Background: Little is known about latent tuberculosis infection and sexually transmitted diseases in international mobility students, due to the limited number of educational institutions that provide care for these types of health problems. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection and the presence of some sexually transmitted diseases in the population of incoming mobility students of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as their socio-demographic, migratory and health characteristics; in order to contribute to the design of strategies for the detection of asymptomatic diseases that may have an impact on the health of this population.

Methods: Incoming mobility students of the UNAM were invited to participate in the study, underwent a clinical history and physical examination, and informed consent was requested for the collection of blood to determine the presence of TB and some sexually transmitted diseases.

Objetivo: En respuesta a la creciente amenaza de riesgos pandémicos y la reciente experiencia de la pandemia de Covid-19, la UNAM a través del PUIREE convocó a un análisis multidisciplinario para identificar y priorizar acciones esenciales para la respuesta ante pandemias en México. Material y métodos. Se utilizó el método estructurado de comunicación y análisis Delphi y se presentó a los expertos en salud y vida un cuestionario; en tres reuniones se realizaron discusiones sobre las acciones que debería contener un plan de preparación y respuesta pandémica para México.

Background & Aims: Factors other than elevated levels of ammonia may be implicated in hepatic encephalopathy (HE) pathophysiology, including abnormal cerebral haemodynamics. Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) evaluates cerebrovascular structural integrity and reactivity, through pulsatility index (PI) and breath-holding index (BHI) respectively. The aim of this study was to evaluate cerebral haemodynamics by TCD in patients with compensated and decompensated cirrhosis, and patients with and without HE.
