Background: Anteroposterior (AP) and lateral radiographs often underestimate displacement in medial epicondyle fractures, further complicating the already debated operative indications. The radiocapitellar (RC) view is an alternative radiograph that allows for the separation of the humeroradial and humeroulnar joints. This study investigates the utility of the RC view in measuring displacement and identifying the need for operative intervention in pediatric medial epicondyle fractures.

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are commonly prescribed for hypertension and heart failure, and have well-described antifibrotic properties throughout medical literature. The etiology and pathogenesis of fibrosis is biologically complex with a multitude of factors playing a role in the process. Consequently, pathologic fibrosis may be significant within orthopaedics contributing to post-operative stiffness and, ultimately, negative patient outcomes.

Background: While acute compartment syndrome (ACS) is a well-reported complication after pediatric tibial shaft fractures, prior literature has suggested that pediatric patients with tibial tubercle fractures may be at increased risk of ACS due to the proximity of the tibial tubercle to the anterior tibial recurrent artery. However, this theory was largely based on a series of early case reports without substantiation in larger-scale studies.

Hypothesis/purpose: The purpose of this study is to conduct a population-level analysis of the incidence and risk factors of acute compartment syndrome following pediatric tibial tubercle and tibial shaft fractures.

Osteoarthritis is a common cause of morbidity in an increasingly aging population. Although the weight-bearing joints of the leg and foot are frequently affected by osteoarthritis, degenerative changes in the joints of the upper extremity are likewise common and can be both particularly debilitating for affected individuals and uniquely challenging for the health care providers managing it. The present review seeks to overview the epidemiology, anatomy, diagnosis, and management of osteoarthritis in the joints of the shoulder, elbow, and hand with the intent of providing accessible and relevant information to the range of medical professionals involved in patient care.

Case: A 25-year-old man involved in a jet skiing accident experienced a traumatic excision of his distal fibula in conjunction with other lower extremity injuries. He subsequently underwent a reconstruction of his lateral malleolus using an ipsilateral free vascularized fibular graft (FVFG) from his proximal fibular shaft, resulting in a preserved and stabilized ankle joint at 1 year.

Conclusion: Traumatic distal fibular excision is a rare injury that can be successfully managed using an FVFG, with fusion of the distal syndesmosis and a symmetric ankle mortise observed at the 1-year follow-up.

Baseball is unique in its multiple facets: pitching, hitting, base rounding, and fielding are distinct activities that require different athletic skills to perform at a high level. Likewise, these different aspects of the game can contribute to a multitude of varying injuries. While high-velocity overhead throwing, along with batting, can produce a plethora of upper extremity injuries that often garner attention, injuries to the lower extremity can severely impact a player's performance and ability to compete.
