The breast cancer risk profiles of SS (Sjögren syndrome) patients have shown inconsistent findings in different reports. A recent systematic review and meta-analysis indicated potential geographical variations in the link between pSS (primary Sjögren syndrome) and the risk of breast cancer. Patients with pSS from European countries exhibited a decreased likelihood of developing breast cancer, whereas an increased risk was observed in individuals from Asia and Argentina.

After the previous major dengue fever (DF) outbreaks in 2014 and 2015 in Taiwan, the second-largest DF outbreak re-emerged in 2023. A total of 178 patients with laboratory-confirmed dengue virus (DENV) infection, including 92 DENV-1 and 86 DENV-2 cases, were enrolled in this study conducted during the 2023 dengue outbreak in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Dengue fever (DF), which is caused by the dengue virus (DENV) and transmitted through Aedes mosquitoes, is well recognized for its systemic manifestations, with its ocular involvement gaining recent attention. We present a case of a 41-year-old Taiwanese female who developed acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) following a DF diagnosis related to DENV-1, emphasizing the need for awareness of this complication. The patient, with a history of completely resolved optic neuritis (ON) and comorbidities, experienced blurred vision on day 10 after the onset of DF.

Although mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and death, vaccine effectiveness (VE) against infection and disease from variants of concern (VOC) wanes over time. Neutralizing antibodies (NAb) are surrogates of protection and are enhanced by a booster dose, but their kinetics and durability remain understudied. Current recommendation of a booster dose does not consider the existing NAb in each individual.
