IntroductionIntrapatient variability (IPV) of tacrolimus and its predictors post-lung transplant are unclear. Project AimsThis program evaluation aimed to characterize the IPV of immediate-release versus LCP-tacrolimus and predictors of variability ≥30% in lung transplant recipients. DesignAdult lung transplant recipients who received immediate-release- or LCP-tacrolimus from January 2016 through August 2023 were included in this single-center retrospective evaluation.

Pre-clerkship Pediatric Exposure Enhances Understanding of Social Determinants of Health.

Unlabelled: The Child and Adolescent Motivation and Enrichment Program (CHAMP), an initiative pairing pre-clerkship medical students with pediatric patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD), provides support to HD patients while also providing medical students with opportunities to increase their comfort in the clinical environment and awareness of social determinants of health (SDH).

A Medical Student Initiative to Enhance the Pediatric Hemodialysis Experience.

Background: Children and young adults receiving hemodialysis (HD) face unique challenges including frequent school absenteeism, psychosocial issues, and social isolation, placing them at risk for decreased academic achievement and health literacy.

Objective: To address this, we implemented the Child and Adolescent Motivation and Enrichment Program (CHAMP) at Holtz Children's Hospital in Miami, FL. The objective of this study is to describe the organizational structure and program design of CHAMP and provide preliminary program opinions.

Prospective, multicenter study of ventricular assist device infections.

Background: Ventricular assist devices (VADs) improve survival and quality of life in patients with advanced heart failure, but their use is frequently complicated by infection. There are limited data on the microbiology and epidemiology of these infections.

Methods And Results: One hundred fifty patients scheduled for VAD implantation were enrolled (2006-2008) at 11 US cardiac centers and followed prospectively until transplantation, explantation for recovery, death, or for 1 year.
