Introduction: The onset of colorectal cancer during pregnancy is rare, and no standard treatment has been established. In this report, we present the case of a woman with clinical stage II rectal cancer diagnosed in the second trimester, in which neoadjuvant chemotherapy was administered, followed by delivery once fetal development was sufficiently advanced, and surgery was performed afterward.
Case Presentation: The patient was a 36-year-old woman at 22 weeks of gestation.
A molecular-level understanding of how structural transformations induce morphological changes in organic crystals is essential for developing flexible crystalline materials. Herein, we report that two solvated hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) undergo structural transformations, giving rise to crystal crack propagation in the directions corresponding to their molecular displacements. The HOFs are composed of the tetracarboxylic acids, 4,4',4″,4'″-(5,10-dioxo-5,10-dihydropyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline-2,3,7,8-tetrayl)tetrabenzoic acid (TAAQ) and 4,4',4″,4'″-(9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydroanthracene-2,3,6,7-tetrayl)tetrabenzoic acid (AQ), incorporating tetraazaanthraquinone and anthraquinone cores, respectively.

On May 8, 2023, Japan reclassified COVID-19 from a pandemic to an endemic status, shifting surveillance from universal to sentinel reporting and transitioning the testing and treatment cost of COVID-19 from public funding to individual health insurance coverage. Restrictions on movement, events, and business hours were lifted, potentially increasing cases and complicating tracking.

In this study, we investigated the radiation-induced impacts on mitochondrial DNA in vitro and in vivo, as well as the transgenerational inheritance.
Methods: Human cervical cancer HeLa cells and telomerase-immortalized normal fibroblast BJ1-hTERT cells were exposed to X-rays at 0.

An 88-year-old man was referred to our hospital for further examination of an asymptomatic liver tumor. MRI showed low-intensity regions on T1-weighted images, high-intensity regions on T2-weighted images, high-intensity regions on diffusion-weighted images, and low-intensity regions in the arterial, portal, and hepatocyte phases of Gd-EOB-DTPA. PET scan of the tumor was positive, while endoscopy exhibited no malignant findings.

However, even slight differences in the molecular structure often lead to non-isostructural polymorphic frameworks particularly in the case of hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) because the structures of HOFs are based on a subtle balance of reversible interactions. In this study, we found that three simple analogues of tetracarboxylic acids with naphthalene, quinoxaline, and pyrazinopyrazine cores (NT, QX, and PP, respectively) yielded isostructural solvated HOFs (NT-1, QX-1, and PP-1, respectively), where hydrogen-bonded sql-networked sheets were slip-stacked with closely similar manners.

Quasi single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation of a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) was accurately revealed and the mechanism was proposed. Interestingly, Br/π interaction allows a snapshot of the intermediate phase of the crystal structure to be solved.

The present study explored the possibility that aroma components generated by the oxidation of olive oil may enhance the palatability of olive oil. Using a mouse behavioral model, we found that olive oil oxidized at room temperature for 3 weeks after opening the package, and heated olive oil were both significantly preferred over non-oxidized olive oil. Furthermore, this preference was enhanced with an additive of oxidized refined olive oil flavoring preparation at a certain concentration.

Among them, the soil actinomycete SA8 showing the highest hydroxylation activity was identified as Streptomyces sp. based on 16S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis.
