Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most prevalent histological subtype of thyroid cancer. However, it remains unclear whether BRAF V600E, TERT promoter (TERT-p), and certain pathological markers, such as loss of polarity/loss of cell cohesiveness (LOP/LCC), tall cells, mitotic count, and Ki-67 labeling index (LI) in recurrent tumors, are associated with clinical outcomes in patients with PTC after reoperation for recurrent PTC. This study investigates the impact of BRAF V600E and TERT-p mutations on progression-free survival (PFS) after reoperation for recurrent PTC.

Background: High-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC), an aggressive cancer associated with pathogenic variants, causes genomic instability and sensitivity to poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors. Identifying pathogenic variants is crucial for the treatment of HGSOC; however, genetic testing is expensive and time-consuming. This study aimed to explore pathological features, particularly the presence of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), as potential surrogates to streamline patient selection for genetic testing.

A new species of the genus Mittleman, 1950 is described from northern Vietnam based on morphological and molecular evidence. is characterized by a combination of the following characters: size medium (SVL up to 59.4 mm); primary temporals 2; external ear opening without lobules; loreals two; supralabials seven or eight; infralabials six or seven; nuchals in three pairs; midbody scales in 28 rows; dorsal scales smooth, in six rows across the back; paravertebral scales 60-67, not widened; ventral scales in 60-70 rows; ten smooth lamellae beneath finger IV and 13-15 beneath toe IV; toes not reaching to fingers when limbs adpressed along body; dorsal surface of body and tail bronze brown with few black spots, a dark stripe running from nostril to eye and extending from posterior corner of eye along upper part of flank to the middle of the tail.

Evaluation of two transposases for improving expression of recombinant proteins in Chinese hamster ovary cell stable pools by co-transfection and supertransfection approaches.

Transposons are genetic elements capable of cutting and pasting genes of interest via the action of a transposase and offer many advantages over random or targeted integration of DNA in the creation of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines for recombinant protein expression. Unique transposases have different recognition sites, allowing multiple transposases to be co-transfected together. They also allow for supertransfection (transfection on a previously transfected pool or cell line) with a second transposase to integrate additional copies of the same gene or an additional gene without disruption of the previously integrated DNA which to our knowledge has not been previously described in literature.

Fibrous Dysplasia of the Parietal Bone with Focal Motor Seizures: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Monostotic fibrous dysplasia is a benign proliferation of fibrous and osseous tissues that expand medullary bone to cause symptoms due to compression of adjacent organs and anatomical structures. Focal seizures are rarely the first sign of this kind of lesion. This report describes a young female patient with left-sided focal motor seizures associated with fibrous dysplasia presenting as a mass in the right parietal bone.

We describe a new species of the genus based on five adult specimens from Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam. is distinguished from the remaining Indochinese bent-toed geckos by a combination of the following morphological characteristics: medium size (SVL up to 89.5 mm); dorsal tubercles in 17-19 irregular transverse rows; ventral scales in 32-34 longitudinal rows at midbody; precloacal pores present in both sexes, 9 or 10 in males, 8 or 9 in females; 12-15 enlarged femoral scales on each thigh; femoral pores 9-12 in males, 5-10 in females; postcloacal tubercles 2-4; lamellae under toe IV 21-23; dorsal pattern consisting of 5 or 6 irregular dark bands, a thin neckband without V-shape or triangle shape in the middle, top of head with dark brown blotches; subcaudal scales transversely enlarged.

Objective: To compare the perioperative, oncological, and functional outcomes between single-port robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (SP-RARP) and multiport robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (MP-RARP) via a meta-analysis.

Methods: For relevant articles, three electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, were searched from their inception until January 15, 2022. A meta-analysis has been reported in line with PRISMA 2020 and AMSTAR Guidelines.

Background: The brain metastasis from differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is a rare condition and its prognosis is poor. The standard protocol for screening and treatment of patients with brain metastases from papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) remains controversial. This report aims to share the experience of a single center in the management of brain metastases from DTC.

Cancer cells produce liver metastasis via gap formation in sinusoidal endothelial cells through proinflammatory paracrine mechanisms.

Intracellular gap (iGap) formation in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) is caused by the destruction of fenestrae and appears under pathological conditions; nevertheless, their role in metastasis of cancer cells to the liver remained unexplored. We elucidated that hepatotoxin-damaged and fibrotic livers gave rise to LSECs-iGap formation, which was positively correlated with increased numbers of metastatic liver foci after intrasplenic injection of Hepa1-6 cells. Hepa1-6 cells induced interleukin-23-dependent tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) secretion by LSECs and triggered LSECs-iGap formation, toward which their processes protruded to transmigrate into the liver parenchyma.

Soluble Immune Checkpoint Protein CD27 Is a Novel Prognostic Biomarker of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Development in Hepatitis C Virus-Sustained Virological Response Patients.

Factors affecting the probability of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development even after sustained virological response (SVR) following anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapy remain unelucidated. This study characterized the role of 16 soluble (s) immune checkpoint proteins in 168 HCV-SVR patients, with 47 developing HCC at the study end point. At baseline, high concentrations of 10 immune checkpoint proteins were found in the sera of the HCC group.
