Impact of providing education on the recognition and differential diagnosis of angioedema among emergency department physicians.

Background: We aimed to assess knowledge of emergency department (ED) physicians regarding the classification and treatment of angioedema and to evaluate the impact of a training program on this knowledge base.

Methods: A total of 11 questions about angioedema and its types were posed to ED physicians from various hospitals, either in person or via e-mail, before the implementation of an educational module on the subject (pre-test). Following a brief training period, the ED physicians were presented with the same set of questions once again (post-test).

Determination of Differential miRNA Expression Profile in People with Noise-Induced Hearing Loss.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a significant occupational health issue, characterized by permanent damage to the cochlea due to prolonged exposure to high-intensity noise. Circulating microRNAs (c-miRNAs) have emerged as promising non-invasive indicators of inner ear pathology and potential modulators of cellular stress responses. Nevertheless, their specific roles in NIHL remain inadequately characterized.

A Pilot Investigation of Circulating miRNA Expression in Individuals Exposed to Aluminum and Welding Fumes.

The objectives of this study comprise the identification of key miRNAs and their target genes associated with severe tolerance in individuals exposed to aluminum and welding fumes, and the elucidation of the underlying regulatory mechanisms. In this study, the levels of seven miRNAs (hsa-miR-19a-3p, hsa-miR-130b-3p, hsa-miR-25-3p, hsa-miR-363-3p, hsa-miR-92a-3p, hsa-miR-24-3p, and hsa-miR-19b-3p) were analyzed using both hsa-miR-16-5p and RNU6 (U6 snRNA) as reference miRNAs to validate normalization reliability. The qRT-PCR method was used on blood serum samples from 16 workers who were exposed to aluminum, 16 workers who were exposed to welding fumes, and 16 healthy controls who were not exposed to aluminum or welding fumes.

Objective: The significance of measuring Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) has grown, particularly in monitoring respiratory diseases like asthma. This study investigates whether repeated exposure to irritants in metal casting and coating leads to respiratory inflammation and assesses the benefits of including FeNO measurement in periodic occupational health screenings.

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of lasers at various wavelengths in treating medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) using biochemical, clinical scoring, micro CT analysis, and histopathological methods. The study follows the ARRIVE guidelines to ensure robust and transparent research. In our study, there were 6 groups, including one SHAM group, one CONTROL group, and four experimental groups, with 8 rats in each individual group.

This study measures perceived service quality in a primary healthcare organization and examines the effect of personality traits on service quality. Calculated Globulin Is Clinically Useful as a Screening Test for Antibody Deficiency in Turkish Adult Patients.

Introduction: Heterogeneous clinical features of antibody deficiency (AD) may cause diagnostic delays. Calculated globulin (CG) (total protein minus albumin) has been proposed as a screening test to prevent morbidity due to diagnostic delays in AD. Our aim was to validate CG as a screening test for AD in Turkish adult patients by comparing its role with gamma globulin analysis in protein electrophoresis.

Early Effects of Low Molecular Weight Heparin Therapy with Soft-Mist Inhaler for COVID-19-Induced Hypoxemia: A Phase IIb Trial.

In COVID-19-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome, the lungs are incapable of filling with sufficient air, leading to hypoxemia that results in high mortality among hospitalized patients. In clinical trials, low-molecular-weight heparin was administered via a specially designed soft-mist inhaler device in an investigator initiated, single-center, open-label, phase-IIb clinical trial. Patients with evidently worse clinical presentations were classed as the "Device Group"; 40 patients were given low-molecular-weight heparin via a soft mist inhaler at a dose of 4000 IU per administration, twice a day.
