Facial lymphedema (FL) is a potential complication following head-and-neck tumor (HNT) therapy. Conservative management is often difficult, and there is limited literature on surgical treatments for FL. This report presents three cases of FL treated with lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA).

Background: Currently, the gold standard of treatment for extremity soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is limb-sparing surgery. When the upper extremity is involved, the functional outcome is frequently poor. A 1-step resection and functional reconstruction would be advisable to obtain a fast recovery.

Immediate Soft Tissue Reconstruction in Lower Limb Traumas Using Propeller Perforator Flaps.

Background: Open bone fractures represent a demanding clinical condition that can be life- or limb-threatening. For small- to medium-size soft tissue defects of the lower extremity, propeller perforator flaps are a viable option for reconstruction. We report our experience in Gustilo IIIB open fractures treatment with immediate coverage through propeller-based perforator flaps performed in acute setting.

Support Vector Machine-Based Classification of Vasovagal Syncope Using Head-Up Tilt Test.

Syncope is the medical condition of loss of consciousness triggered by the momentary cessation of blood flow to the brain. Machine learning techniques have been established to be very effective way to address such problems, where a class label is predicted for given input data. This work presents a Support Vector Machine (SVM) based classification of neuro-mediated syncope evaluated using train-test-split and K-fold cross-validation methods using the patient's physiological data collected through the Head-up Tilt Test in pure clinical settings.

Successful prolonged resuscitation involving the use of tenecteplase without neurological sequelae.

Prehospital cardiac arrest is associated with a very poor prognosis. We report a case of complete neurological recovery after prolonged resuscitation involving the use of tenecteplase in a patient with undifferentiated cardiac arrest with a return of spontaneous circulation after 1 hour of resuscitation, where basic life support was commenced immediately by a bystanding family member. Factors associated with an increased chance of survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest are discussed as well as the role of thrombolytics in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
