Background: The D1Ce Screen pilot study stems from the Italian Republic Law 130/2023 introducing the screening based on autoantibody measurement on capillary blood for the identification of people in pre-symptomatic, early phase of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and/or having silent celiac disease (CD) in the general paediatric population to reduce the impact of the two more frequent and severe chronic diseases of childhood.
Aim: Primary aim is to assess, on a smaller scale, the organizational feasibility, acceptability and sustainability by the National Health Service of the screening program to be conducted nationwide in Italy according to the law.
Methods And Analysis: This is an observational multicenter study, planning to screen 5,363 children from four Italian regions (Lombardy, Marche, Campania, Sardinia), proportionally distributed according to population of the single Regions, representative of the North, Centre, South and Islands of Italy.
Background: Over the last decade, while studies on the detrimental effects of ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption have increased, methodological limitations on the quality of available evidence have emerged. Starting from a critical reassessment of the NOVA classification, this project will aim to develop and validate a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), which is based on the processing of consumed foods and specifically designed to estimate the UPF consumption and total dietary intake of macro- and micronutrients in the Italian adult population.
Methods: This study will take place in selected workplaces and include healthy males and females aged ≥18 years, residing in Italy and with Italian citizenship.
Introduction: Over the last years, many Mediterranean countries, including Italy, have witnessed a shift away from the Mediterranean Diet, thus contributing to the high rates of overweight and obesity. The survey "Adherence to Mediterranean Diet in Italy (ARIANNA)" aimed to evaluate the Adherence to Mediterranean Diet (AMD) and its main determinants in the Italian population.
Materials And Methods: This study started on March 2023 and was addressed to adults aged ≥17 years, born and resident in Italy, proficient in Italian.
In the present study, we addressed the knowledge gaps regarding the agglomeration behavior and fate of food-grade titanium dioxide (E 171) in human gastrointestinal digestion (GID). After thorough multi-technique physicochemical characterization including TEM, single-particle ICP-MS (spICP-MS), CLS, VSSA determination and ELS, the GI fate of E 171 was studied by applying the in vitro GID approach established for the regulatory risk assessment of nanomaterials in Europe, using a standardized international protocol. GI fate was investigated in fasted conditions, relevant to E 171 use in food supplements and medicines, and in fed conditions, with both a model food and E 171-containing food samples.

Aim: To verify a possible association between overall and CagA+ infection and autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITDs).
Methods: Consecutive patients with AITDs admitted to one single centre of Endocrinology during one solar year were examined. The diagnoses were Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) in 76, Graves' Disease (GD) in 39, and aspecific thyroiditis (AT) in 44 patients.
Phospholipase A (PLA ) is involved in eicosanoid release, and F -isoprostanes (F -IsoPs), as free radical-generated eicosanoids released by PLA , are indicators of oxidative stress in different human conditions. This study investigated the interplay between cytosolic PLA (cPLA ), F -IsoPs and sperm features in male infertility, when the involvement of oxidative stress has been reported. Semen evaluation was performed following WHO guidelines, sperm ultrastructure was detected by transmission electron microscopy indicating a fertility index, and the percentages of sperm immaturity, apoptosis and necrosis.
