Introduction We aimed to investigate malignancy rates in atypia of undetermined significance (AUS) subcategories and their association with cytomorphologic and ultrasonographic features. Methods A total of 201 thyroid nodules with AUS cytology that underwent surgical resection were analy-zed, including 169 AUS-Nuclear (AUS-N) and 32 AUS-Other (AUS-O) nodules. Cytomorphological and ultrasonographic features, along with the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR-TIRADS) and the European Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (EU-TIRADS) classifications, were analyzed to assess the association between malignancy and AUS subcategories.

Purpose: To assess the utility of blood cell-derived parameters in differentiating subacute thyroiditis (SAT) from Graves' disease (GD) and their association with recurrence and the development of permanent hypothyroidism in the patients with SAT.

Methods: The study involved 414 patients with SAT, 415 patients with GD, and 92 healthy controls. Pre-treatment hematological parameters were retrospectively compared, especially in cases where differentiation is challenging, including painless SAT, acute phase reactants negative SAT, and TSI, TRAB (Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin, TSH-receptor-antibodies) negative GD.

Article Synopsis
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is a common chronic liver condition linked to higher risks for type 2 diabetes and its complications, and the FIB-4 scoring system can help predict liver fibrosis.
  • This study reviewed medical records of 312 type 2 diabetes patients to evaluate the relationship between FIB-4 scores and microvascular complications like nephropathy, neuropathy, and retinopathy.
  • Results showed that while FIB-4 scores did not differ significantly for neuropathy or retinopathy, higher FIB-4 scores were associated with a greater prevalence of nephropathy, suggesting that FIB-4 scores could be a useful tool in predicting this specific complication in diabetic patients.

Objective: The present article analyses pre-operative demographic, biochemical, sonographic and histopathological characteristics of low-risk thyroid neoplasms (LRTNs), with a focus on four subgroups, "well-differentiated carcinoma-not otherwise specified" (WDC-NOS), "non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary like nuclear features" (NIFTP), "well-differentiated tumours of uncertain malignant potential" (WDT-UMP) and "follicular tumour of uncertain malignant potential" (FT-UMP).

Methods: The study retrospectively analyzed the histopathology of 2453 malignant thyroids and the final analyses included 99 cases diagnosed with LRTNs. The demographic and clinical features, pre-operative thyroid function, ultrasonography results, cytopathology results, histopathology results and prognostic classifications were assessed.
