Infections caused by anaerobes are common in children. However, limited data are available on bloodstream infections caused by these bacteria in Europe. A multicentre retrospective observational study was conducted over a 4-year period (2020-2023) across 44 European hospitals to analyze all anaerobes isolated from blood cultures.

Accurate antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of cefiderocol remains a diagnostic challenge, especially in infections caused by metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-producing . While disk diffusion offers a cost-effective alternative to broth microdilution, it is highly sensitive to factors such as media composition and the presence of atypical colony morphology. The objective of this study was to evaluate how different agar media and interpretations of isolated colonies affect the performance and reliability of cefiderocol AST by disk diffusion.

Background: Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) have been increasingly used in hospital logistics, particularly in high-risk areas, such as emergency departments (EDs), to streamline operations, reduce staff fatigue, and minimize infection risks. However, their effective disinfection remains a critical concern, especially when it comes to solutions aimed at preventing spread of multi-drug-resistant organisms.

Aim: This study evaluated the microbiological cleanliness and effectiveness of various disinfection methods for AMRs in real-life hospital logistics settings, with a particular focus on their application in EDs.

infection (CDI) represents a significant public health challenge globally, driven by its increasing prevalence, hypervirulent strains like ribotype 027 (RT027), and growing antibiotic resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of RT027 and analyze molecular markers of vancomycin and metronidazole resistance in stool samples from CDI patients hospitalized in Poland between 2017 and 2019. A total of 200 stool samples from confirmed CDI cases were analyzed for the presence of RT027, (vancomycin resistance), and (metronidazole resistance) genes.

Introduction: Despite being implicated in a wide spectrum of community- and healthcare-acquired infections, anaerobes have not yet been incorporated into systematic surveillance programs in Europe.

Methods: We conducted a multicentre retrospective observational study analysing all anaerobic strains isolated from blood cultures in 44 European Hospital Centres over a 4-y period (2020-2023). Diagnostic approach, epidemiology, and antimicrobial susceptibility according to EUCAST v.
