Background: Registered nurses (RNs) are increasingly recognized as key contributors to team-based primary care. However, funding limitations and restrictive reimbursement policies hinder their integration.
Purpose: This scoping review aimed to identify and categorize funding models used to support RN roles in U.
Intensive interdisciplinary pain treatment (IIPT) effectively treats pediatric patients with highly impairing chronic pain; however, safety and outcomes for patients with comorbid pediatric generalized joint hypermobility (pGJH) have not been rigorously examined. This study assessed the prevalence of injuries and physical and psychosocial outcomes of IIPT for patients with chronic pain with and without pGJH. This study was a retrospective review of patients admitted to an IIPT program providing 40 h of weekly physical and psychological therapies for approximately 4-6 weeks.

Within songbirds, the typical filiform sperm has a slender, corkscrew-shaped head and an elongated midpiece coiled around the flagellum. However, three songbird species are known to have an unusual tadpole-like sperm morphology with a round or ellipsoid head and short, uncoiled midpiece, which may arise developmentally via neoteny.

Genetic research is unevenly distributed across the globe, with most research done in temperate zones. To better understand the birdlife in an under-represented, arid subtropical country, Qatar, we blood sampled birds and salvaged tissue from dead birds, then sequenced a mitochondrial marker (cytochrome oxidase subunit I, COI, the "DNA barcoding" gene). We chose the DNA barcoding gene because it has previously proven useful for preliminary explorations of evolutionary history.

Rhinitis symptom control is associated with exposure to environmental triggers (eg, aeroallergens, pollutants, and irritants). While people spend much of their time at home, studies examining the association of rhinitis symptoms with home environmental exposures, especially in low-income, urban, and racial or ethnic minorities, are limited.

Objective: To identify how pediatric patients with hypermobile-type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) present to physical therapy (PT) and better understand their musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Design: Patients were included in the study if they had a diagnosis of hEDS and at least 1 completed PT evaluation after diagnosis. A chart review was conducted to assess joint strength and pain characteristics at the initial PT assessment.
Objectives: Many hospitals use fall prevention alarms, despite the limited evidence of effectiveness. The objectives of this study were (1) to identify, conceptualise and select strategies to deimplement fall prevention alarms and (2) to obtain feedback from key stakeholders on tailoring selected deimplementation strategies for the local hospital context.
Methods: Hospital staff working on fall prevention participated in group concept mapping (GCM) to brainstorm strategies that could be used for fall prevention alarm deimplementation, sort statements into conceptually similar categories and rate statements based on importance and current use.
Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) is the most common connective tissue disorder. However, few studies exist on psychiatric and sleep disorders in pediatric patients with hEDS. This study aims to describe psychiatric and sleep disorders and evaluate their impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in pediatric patients with hEDS.

Employing community-based participatory research, we formed a community research advisory team and conducted focus group interviews with Black and Latino community members about elements of social media messages that might reduce hesitancy about and increase engagement in clinical trials. From the interview transcripts, we extracted seven key themes: transparency, familiarity, altruism, adaptability, flexibility, recognition, and safety.

Purpose: To assess the validity and reliability of a newly adapted Tampa Scale for KP for adolescents with HD (TSK-Heart-A).
Methods: The TSK-Heart-A survey consists of 17 Likert scale items, producing a summary score (SS) ranging from 17 (low KP) to 68 (high KP). Following content and face validity, adolescents (age 12-18 yr) with arrhythmia disorders or Fontan palliation were recruited.
Population-level efforts are needed to increase levels of physical activity and healthy eating to reduce and manage chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. Interventions to increase public transit use may be one promising strategy, particularly for low-income communities or populations of color who are disproportionately burdened by health disparities and transportation barriers. This study employs a natural experiment design to evaluate the impacts of a citywide zero-fare transit policy in Kansas City, Missouri, on ridership and health indicators.

Sperm traits may contribute to speciation if they diverge fast in allopatry and cause conspecific sperm precedence upon secondary contact. However, their role in driving prezygotic isolation has been poorly investigated.

Cardiovascular, autonomic symptoms and dysautonomia are frequently reported in adults with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and have been shown to have a negative impact on quality of life. However, there is scant literature on autonomic symptoms in pediatric patients with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Guidelines for VTE prophylaxis were established at our institution at the beginning of the pandemic. Patients who had any VTE risk factors in addition to COVID-19 met criteria for anticoagulation prophylaxis.

Purpose: To compare nurse moral distress and leadership communication during the COVID-19 pandemic in hospitals that serve disproportionately many or few patients of Black race.
Methods: In a national hospital sample (n = 90), nurse survey data were collected (March 2021).
Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are key contributors to maternal morbidity, mortality, and future risk of cardiovascular disease. This exploratory study aimed to unearth the health-related needs of women with a reported history of HDP by inquiring about preferences for care.
Method: Deductive, qualitative analysis was conducted of HDP survivors' retrospective 'wishes' about the care received.
Background: Fall prevention alarms are commonly used among US hospitals as a fall prevention strategy despite limited evidence of effectiveness. Further, fall prevention alarms are harmful to healthcare staff (e.g.

Down syndrome (DS) is one of the most common chromosomal conditions that results in intellectual disability. Children with DS have many different inflammatory and noninflammatory conditions that can affect joint mobility leading to arthralgia and altered joint range of motion (ROM), and it is important to have normal reference values for comparison to determine the degree of impairment. The objective of this study was to establish normative joint ROM values, using a standardized measurement approach, for upper and lower joints of healthy children of both genders with DS.

The earliest window of exposure to added sugars may be in infancy via infant formula. However, beyond the well-established factors of maternal lifestyle and modeling, there is a lack of research examining how exposure to added sugars from infant formula influences infant/toddler added sugar intakes from table foods and sugar sweetened beverages (SSB).

Background: Research has established a relationship between favorable nurse work environments and better nurse, patient, and organizational outcomes. However, the instrument most frequently used to measure the nurse work environment, the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI), has not had its items significantly re-evaluated since the 1980s.
Objective: We sought to examine the psychometric properties of an updated PES-NWI and create an instrument suitable for further testing and refinement to measure the present-day nurse work environment.
Objective: The aim of this study was to synthesize previous findings and provide practical guidance for maximizing nurse manager and nurse performance.
Background: Two recent studies have linked nurse manager job design factors and individual differences to a variety of valued outcomes, but practical implications remain unclear.
Methods: A large US sample of nurse managers was divided on the basis of nurse and patient outcomes.
Objective: The aims of this study were to obtain direct care hospital nurse input on the relevance of the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) and to determine whether additional items are needed to measure the contemporary nursing work environment (NWE).
Background: Instruments accurately measuring the NWE are essential due to the NWE's association with nurse, patient, and organizational outcomes. However, the most frequently used instrument for measuring the NWE has not been scrutinized by today's practicing direct care nurses to ensure its current relevancy.
