This study aimed to investigate the frequency of critical complications in SLE patients requiring intensive care unit (ICU) admission and to identify potential risk factors affecting their outcomes. The study included 50 SLE patients admitted to the Critical Care Unit.

Introduction: This study investigated the tryptic hydrolysis of β-lactoglobulin (BLG) for 30, 60, 90, and 120 min at 1/200 E/S (enzyme/substrate ratio, w/w) to prepare potentially anticarcinogenic peptides.
Methods: The properties of hydrolysates were characterized, including degree of hydrolysis, free amino acids, SDS-PAGE, FTIR, and antioxidant activity employing DPPH-assay, β-carotene/linoleic acid, and FRAP assay.
Results: BLG tryptic hydrolysate produced after 60 min hydrolysis recorded the highest antioxidant activity, and LCMS analysis revealed 162 peptides of molecular masses ranging from 800 to 5671Da, most of them are of hydrophobic nature.
Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to the general population, which leads to increased morbidity and mortality. Inflammation is the key in RA and CVD. Our study aimed to refine cardiovascular (CV) risk assessment in RA patients by using carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) as a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis.

Methods: One hundred and sixty RA patients were assigned in a randomized clinical trial (clinicaltrial. gov NCT03194204).
The aim of the present work is to study the effect of incorporation of biomass and phycocyanin extracts of Spirulina platensis growing in define media at large scales (300 liters, limited in nitrogen and high salinity) to traditional butter biscuits in order to increase general mental health as functional products, FPs). The FP were manufactured at a pilot scale formulated by adding algal biomass (0.3, 0.
