Many countries used digital health solutions to support COVID-19 vaccination but struggled to implement them, resulting in adaptations. This theory-driven mixed methods evaluation of COVID-19 vaccine-related data and digital interventions from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger and Vietnam aimed to uncover (i) what drove mid-course adaptations of these digital health interventions, (ii) how these adapted interventions may have contributed to improved availability, quality and use of COVID-19 vaccine-related data and (iii) if and how these interventions strengthened eHealth building blocks. Methods consisted of interviews, document review, secondary data analysis and observation.

Reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 2030 global mortality and morbidity targets will require increased access to essential health services. Scaling high-impact health interventions within the public sector is complex; delineation of the pathway to scale for each intervention within each distinct geography is important for prioritising actions to advance interventions towards effective coverage. Following a review of 38 theoretical frameworks describing pathways for scaling health system interventions, we developed, tested and refined a new schema-the Stages of Achieving Effective Coverage and Equity Framework-for use to describe the status of policy adoption, implementation and coverage of key maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition (MNCHN) interventions.

Background: Microplanning is widely recognized as a critical tool for improving immunization coverage and equity and is considered a core component of routine immunization. However, there is limited evidence on how microplans are developed and implemented and the effectiveness of microplanning. As such, this study sought to review the existing evidence on implementation and institutionalization of microplanning; identify strategies to improve microplanning; and document evidence on new approaches to microplanning, including digitally enhanced and integrated microplanning.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted global health, with Eastern Europe experiencing notable excess morbidity and mortality and vaccine hesitancy. This study utilized the Behavior Integration (BI) framework to identify barriers and motivators for COVID-19 vaccination and develop strategies to increase vaccine demand and confidence in Moldova, North Macedonia, and Serbia. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys.

Inequitable coverage of evidence-based MNCHN interventions is particularly pronounced in low and middle income countries where access and delivery of these interventions can vary dramatically at the subnational level. We conducted health system assessments in nine subnational geographies in five countries (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, India, Kenya and Nigeria) to explore progress toward scale of 14 evidence-based MNCHN interventions (iron-folic acid, oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, misoprostol; 7.1% chlorhexidine for umbilical cord care, neonatal resuscitation, kangaroo mother care, community regimen for the treatment of possible severe bacterial infection; amoxicillin dispersible tablets, multiple micronutrient supplements, balanced energy protein supplementation, early and exclusive breastfeeding, feeding of small and sick newborns, and management of severe and moderate acute malnutrition in children less than five years old).
