Background: Venous lake lesion is a venous ectasia that can occur on the lips of older people. Although different therapies have been used, there is no guideline for treating this lesion. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether sclerotherapy is an effective and acceptable option for treatment of venous lake lesions of the lips in older patients.

The aim of this study was to carry out a review of reported cases of oral and maxillofacial myiasis in older adults and to show a case report of oral myiasis in a 95-year-old frail man with severe Alzheimer's disease from Brazil.
Methods And Results: Between 1988 and 2017, 35 oral and maxillofacial myiasis cases were reported in older adults in English-language studies from PubMed and Lilacs databases.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between quality of root canal obturations and the presence/absence of periapical lesion in elderly patients.
Methodology: This was a systematic conducted by means analysing studies on the quality of root canal obturations and their relationship with periapical health in elderly patients. The methodological procedures were based on Cochrane.
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and frequency of apical periodontitis and root fillings in 450 institutionalized Brazilian elderly. The teeth with apical periodontitis were assessed using the Periapical Index (PAI) score. A total of 942 teeth were evaluated in 98 subjects (57 females and 41 males) with mean age of 74 years.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between malocclusions, such as open bite and crossbite, and behavioral, demographic and socioeconomic variables in a sample of 5-year-old children attending preschools.
Methods: The random sample consisted of 728 preschool children attending 22 public (n = 428) and 18 private (n = 300) preschools.
In 2001, the Brazilian Dental Council established a new specialty: Special Care Dentistry (SCD). This decision was based on the increase of both the number of people with disabilities and their demand for dental treatment. The aim of this study was to present the current status of SCD in Brazil.

Purpose: To identify the risk indicators of gingivitis among socioeconomic, clinical and gender variables in 5-year-old children attending preschools in Piracicaba, Brazil, in 2005.
Materials And Methods: The sample consisted of 728 subjects attending 22 public (n = 428) and 18 private (n = 300) preschools. A previously calibrated examiner performed the clinical examination in an outdoor setting, under natural light, using a dental mirror, Community Periodontal Index probe and air-drying.
Objective: To present the current status of geriatric dentistry in Brazil.
Background: In 2001, the Brazilian Dental Council established a new specialty: geriatric dentistry. This decision was based on the increase in both the elderly population and the demand for dental treatment of this cohort.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to undertake a critical appraisal of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) measurements used for research in the elderly.
Background: A variety of OHRQoL measurements have been developed in the past 20 years as a result of increased concern about the impact of oral conditions on a person's quality of life. There is need for an assessment aimed at prioritising the recommended measurements to be used for different purposes in the elderly.
This study offers help for drawing up a community health orthodontic assistance protocol, especially for the public health system. A preventive and interceptive orthodontic program is suggested through the inclusion of approaches in existing healthcare programs that may help prevent malocclusions, extending the services offered by Basic Healthcare Units to include fitting space retainer appliances and interceptive procedures. Possible occlusion problems are discussed and rated as high or low priority for treatment, stressing occlusal deviations that should not be treated precociously.
