Association of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential with cardiometabolic multimorbidity progression and mortality: a prospective study of UK Biobank.

Background: Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is defined as the aging-related clonal expansion of preleukemic mutations in hematopoietic stem cells. While CHIP has been studied in cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs), its role in the long-term progression from the absence of CMD to the development of a single CMD, cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM), and eventual mortality remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the association between CHIP and gene-specific CHIP subtypes with the progression of CMD transitions.

Background: Metabolic disorders have a significant impact on the health of women of childbearing age (WCBA) but remain underemphasized. This study aims to assess the global, regional, and national burden of metabolic disorders in WCBA from 1990 to 2021.

Methods: Prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) related to metabolic disorders in WCBA from 1990 to 2021 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021.

Frailty, an Independent Risk Factor in Progression Trajectory of Cardiometabolic Multimorbidity: A Prospective Study of UK Biobank.

Background: Although frailty was associated with cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs, including coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes here), there was no systematic analyses estimating its role in incidence, progression, and prognosis of cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM).

Methods: We included 351 205 participants without CMDs at baseline in UK Biobank. Occurrences of first CMD, CMM, and death were recorded.
