Objectives: To evaluate brain functional connectivity (FC) with resting-state magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) in adolescents with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) compared to healthy controls (HCs) and to evaluate associations among FC, disease characteristics, and cognitive performance.
Methods: Patients with cSLE aged 11 to 17 years, and age- and sex-matched HCs, underwent rs-fMRI at 3T and clinical (current and cumulative cSLE activity and glucocorticoid dose, anti-dsDNA positivity, nephritis diagnosis) and cognitive (attention, working memory, processing speed, inhibition) data collection. Group differences in FC between brain regions of interest (ROI) within/across resting-state networks as well as associations between FC and clinical and cognitive variables were evaluated with age-adjusted general linear models.
Background & Aims: Inadequate dietary fibre (DF) intake is associated with suboptimal gut function and increased risk of several human diseases. Bread is commonly consumed and is ideal to incorporate cereal bran to increase DF content. No human studies have investigated the effects of defatted rice bran (DRB) in bread, which has triple the DF of white bread, purported hypo-allergenicity and a unique nutrient profile, as a dietary intervention in healthy adults.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a fast and automatic algorithm to detect and segment lymphadenopathy from head and neck computed tomography (CT) examination.
Materials And Methods: An ensemble of three convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based on a U-Net architecture were trained to segment the lymphadenopathies in a fully supervised framework. The resulting predictions were assessed using the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) on examinations presenting one or more adenopathies.

Background: Understanding the metabolic and lipidomic changes that accompany bone loss in osteoporosis might provide insights about the mechanisms behind molecular changes and facilitate developing new drugs or nutritional strategies for osteoporosis prevention. This study aimed to examine the effects of short- or long-term glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis on plasma metabolites and lipids of ovariectomized (OVX) sheep.
Methods: Twenty-eight aged ewes were divided randomly into four groups: an OVX group, OVX in combination with glucocorticoids for two months (OVXG2), and OVX in combination with five doses of glucocorticoids (OVXG5) to induce bone loss, and a control group.
Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is characterized by the accumulation of hepatic fat in an inflammatory/fibrotic background. Herein, we show that the hepatic high-activity glutaminase 1 isoform (GLS1) is overexpressed in NASH. Importantly, GLS1 inhibition reduces lipid content in choline and/or methionine deprivation-induced steatotic mouse primary hepatocytes, in human hepatocyte cell lines, and in NASH mouse livers.
