This work focuses on fabricating a photocatalyst nanocomposite based on MnFeO@ZnO for degrading Red Amaranth azo dye. Manganese ferrite (MnFeO) magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized via a hydrothermal method, while a ZnO thin film, acting as the photoactive layer, was deposited on the magnetic cores using the atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the spinel ferrite structure of MnFeO and the hexagonal wurtzite phase of ZnO.

Antibody avidity is indicative of antibody affinity maturation following virus infection or vaccination. To determine correlation between preexisting anti-dengue virus (DENV) antibody avidity and secondary DENV exposure outcomes, we assessed anti-DENV antibody avidity, represented as avidity index (antibody response/dissociation rate) in sera of Nicaraguan Pediatric Dengue Cohort Study participants prior to symptomatic or inapparent secondary DENV infections. The avidity index was significantly higher in participants who subsequently developed inapparent versus symptomatic infections.

We present the case of a 60-year-old male patient with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) who experienced treatment-related fluctuations (TRF) with a history of ayahuasca consumption. The patient presented to the neurological emergency department without a history of infection (upper respiratory tract or diarrhea) or vaccination in the past four weeks, but 14 days prior, the patient had consumed ayahuasca. Upon admission, the patient exhibited progressive weakness in all four limbs, with no cranial nerve involvement, a muscle strength Medical Research Council (MRC) score of 36/60, and generalized areflexia.

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a global public health concern due to its ability to cause congenital Zika syndrome and lack of approved vaccine, therapeutic, or other control measures. We discovered eight novel rabbit monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that bind to distinct ZIKV envelope protein epitopes. Unlabelled: Antibody affinity maturation is a critical step in development of functional antiviral immunity; however, accurate measurement of affinity maturation of polyclonal serum antibody responses to particulate antigens such as virions is challenging. We describe a novel avidity assay employing biolayer interferometry and dengue virus-like particles.
