Many phenolic compounds, such as hydroxytyrosol (HT), have been recognized for their antioxidant and cardiovascular (CV) health benefits. To address the efficacy of HT, the present study aimed to identify the relevant mechanisms associated with high-CV risk. Plasma unbiased multi-omics data were compared among two subgroups of high-CV risk patients -HT responders and non-responders.

The aim of this study was to determine the physiological response of mandarin trees in a semi-arid area to the effects of a long period of irrigation with saline reclaimed water (RW) and freshwater (FW) in terms of leaf mineral constitution, free amino acids and phytohormone balance, and their influence on yield and fruit quality. Results showed that higher foliar levels of Cl B, Li, and Br were found in the RW treatment.

In this study, a Chitosan-Fe polymeric gel was synthesized, characterized, and tested for removing the azo dye Direct Red 83:1 from water. The polymeric magnetic chitosan was analyzed using various techniques: Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) revealed a porous structure, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) demonstrated the thermal stability, Infrared Spectrophotometry (IR) indicated the successful coordination of iron at the C3 position, and X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) confirmed the crystalline nature of the polymeric structure.

Acute and chronic bone infections, especially those caused by methicillin-resistant (MRSA), remains a major complication and therapeutic challenge. It is documented that local administration of vancomycin offers better results than the usual routes of administration (e.g.

Indeed, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) allows the health claim that HT (≥5mg/d) "protects LDL particles from oxidative damage". In terms of safety, HT has been investigated as the predominant part of raw olive mill waste water extracts that have been granted the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status.

In terms of safety profile, hydroxytyrosol has only been investigated as the predominant part of raw olive mill waste water extracts, due to the previous unavailability of appropriate quantities of the pure compound. We report the toxicological evaluation of hydroxytyrosol and, based on the results, propose a No Observed Adverse Effects Level (NOAEL) of 500mg/kg/d.
