Fabry Disease (FD) (OMIM 301500) is a metabolic X-linked inherited lysosomal storage disorder that results from the deficient activity of Alpha-Galactosidase A (Alpha-Gal), a lysosomal hydrolase that cleaves neutral glycosphingolipids with terminal N-linked galactosyl moieties, mainly globotriaosylceramides (Gb3). The availability of safe and effective enzymatic therapies has recently led many investigators to develop and validate new screening tools, such as algorithms, for the diagnosis of LSDs where the lack of disease awareness or failure to implement newborn screening results in a delayed diagnosis.

Background: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is reported to be more common in preterm infants than in term infants, especially in sick preterm infants. Though a frequent possibility of transitory thyroidal alterations in this category of neonates, the evolution of CH to transient or permanent forms is unpredictable.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed medical records of 28 preterm infants (<37 weeks gestation) who had exhibited a positive screening for CH at birth during the period 2000-2015 followed in our Center.
Subjects with Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1) develop vascular complications. The protein product of the gene affected in NF1, neurofibromin, physiologically modulates endothelial function and preserves vascular and myocardial structure. Our study aimed to verify whether subjects with NF1 have early, preclinical abnormalities of carotid artery structure, brachial artery function, and cardiac function.

Objective: The objective of the study was to describe the electroclinical features, seizure semiology, and the long-term evolution of gelastic seizures (GS) not associated with hypothalamic hamartoma (HH).

Deletion of distal 9p is associated with a rare clinical condition characterized by dysmorphic features, developmental delay, and ambiguous genitalia. The phenotype shows variable expressivity and is related to the size of the deletion. 8q24 duplication has been reported in only few cases to date, all showing dysmorphic features and mild psychomotor developmental delay.
