Purpose: In term and preterm infants, liver size is important for assessing growth and detecting conditions such as hepatomegaly, infections, or cardiac failure. The German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM) recommends measuring craniocaudal liver length in two frontal planes: the midsternal line (MSL) and the right anterior axillary line (AAL). This study evaluated whether liver length measurements in the right AAL from a lateral view yield results comparable to the standard frontal view, as the lateral approach may be technically more accessible and less stressful for neonates.

Biological small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is a versatile and powerful technique for investigating the structural and biophysical properties of biologically and pharmaceutically relevant macromolecules and nanoparticles. SAXS offers detailed insights into macromolecular composition, size, shape and internal structure, while addressing key aspects such as oligomeric state, stability, molecular interactions, and conformational flexibility. Recently, asymmetrical-flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) was successfully coupled to SAXS, enabling online size-based fractionation and analysis of polydisperse samples.

The release 4 series introduces substantial architectural updates and enhanced user-friendly tools for analyzing biological macromolecules and nanostructured objects. In particular, highly requested project support for graphical user interfaces (GUIs) has been implemented. Here the state of the main window of each GUI application can be saved as a project and then restored to continue or extend analyses.

We investigate cross-correlation between B quadrupole and B-F dipole-dipole coupling in two BODIPY compounds and one bis(benzoxazol)methanide in partially oriented polystyrene (PS) samples. Especially for the bis(benzoxazol)methanide, the transitions for which the two interactions interfere con- or destructively clearly show distinct linewidths.

The ultrasound (US) examination is the most important imaging procedure in the clinical care of children with chronic kidney disease, the assessment before kidney transplantation and in the acute and chronic phase after successful kidney transplantation. In trained hands, particularly with experience in Doppler sonography, US ensures that vascular complications, such as occlusions, thrombosis, stenosis as well as non-vascular complications, e.g.
