This case report demonstrated the effectiveness of combining chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT) in converting initially inoperable esophageal cancer into an operable condition. A 60-year-old male with stage IVB lower third esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (cT3N2M1) experienced significant tumor shrinkage (ypT2N0M0) and a notable metabolic response, which enabled successful surgical removal. This treatment approach highlights the potential of mEHT as a valuable addition to the comprehensive management of esophageal cancer.

Background: Primary pulmonary hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) is an exceedingly rare tumor with unique clinicopathological features, posing major diagnostic challenges.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a 74-year-old woman with a lung nodule incidentally detected in the right middle lobe (RML) through F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) imaging. Background/purpose: Biomaterial implants are emerging as a treatment choice for pleurodesis; however, the optimal biomaterial and form for managing spontaneous pneumothorax, particularly post-video-assisted thoracic surgery, remain under investigation. This study evaluated the mechanical and biological properties of the poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) membrane as a sclerosing agent for pleurodesis in Landrace pigs.

G-protein coupled inwardly rectifying K+ (GIRK) channels have been reported to be targets of ethanol actions. We investigated if ethanol affects native GIRK channels in rat brain tissues at clinically relevant concentrations using brain slices containing the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray (PAG), an area related to pain regulation. Ethanol did not affect the membrane current elicited by hyperpolarization ramps at concentrations up to 150 mM.
