Background: A comprehensive review of 45-year trends in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ECC) in the United States has not been published. Given their rising incidence, our study aimed to analyze trends in incidence and survival, comparing ICC and ECC.
Methods: We extracted a 45-year dataset (1975-2020) from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database.
At present, contamination due to toxic metals is a global concern. The management of problems caused by heavy metals relies on stabilization/solidification, which is the most effective technique for the control of metal pollution in soil. This study examined the immobilization efficiency of various phosphate-based binders (NaPO, NaHPO, NaHPO), in addition to ordinary Portland cement (OPC), MgO, and CaO, for the stabilization of multi-metal-contaminated soils.

Objectives: Medico-legal and regulatory culture has a significant impact on medical practitioners, including the decision of graduates to enter high-risk specialties. This study explores the impact of the current medico-legal and regulatory culture in Ireland on the decision of graduate entry medical students to enter one high risk specialty, obstetrics and gynecology.
Study Design: We conducted a survey of 146 final-year, graduate-entry medical students pre- and post- a 6-week rotation in obstetrics and gynecology in Ireland.
Every year, a significant amount of antimony (Sb) enters the environment from natural and anthropogenic sources like mining, smelting, industrial operations, ore processing, vehicle emissions, shooting activities, and coal power plants. Humans, plants, animals, and aquatic life are heavily exposed to hazardous Sb or antimonide by either direct consumption or indirect exposure to Sb in the environment. This review summarizes the current knowledge about Sb global occurrence, its fate, distribution, speciation, associated health hazards, and advanced biochar composites studies used for the remediation of soil contaminated with Sb to lessen Sb bioavailability and toxicity in soil.

Background: Esophageal carcinoma presents as 2 types, esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) with the frequency of both changing in the United States (US).
Aim: To investigate EAC/ESCC incidence time trends among the 3 main US racial groups and investigate trends in US EAC survival by ethnicity.
Methods: Twenty-five years (1992-2016) of data from SEER 13 program was analyzed to compare incidence trends in EAC and ESCC between non-Hispanic whites (nHW), non-Hispanic Blacks (nHB) and Hispanics (Hisp) using SEERStat.
The unprecedented stride of urbanization and industrialization has given rise to anthropogenic input of tiny particulates into the air. Symptoms usually present after consumption of fruits, juices, grains, and starches, leading to failure to thrive and malnutrition. Based on the assessment of arsenic mass partitioning in the FS system, arsenic elimination in off-gassing and tailings is 22%, and most of the arsenic output (69%) is recycled in the FS system. Median arcuate ligament syndrome is a rare disorder that is clinically characterized by the triad of postprandial abdominal pain, weight loss, and often an abdominal bruit due to compression of the celiac artery by the median arcuate ligament. Given the nonspecific symptoms, this is a rare and difficult diagnosis to obtain. The purpose of this study was to evaluate predictors of HRQOL among ethnically diverse women hospitalized for coronary heart disease (CHD) and determine the impact of a brief, educational intervention on HRQOL 6 months post-hospitalization.
Methods: Women (n = 160; mean age 63 years, 53% minority) admitted for CHD at three academic hospitals who completed a 6 month secondary prevention trial were studied.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a frequent co-morbidity in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). Implantation of LVADs is an acceptable option for diabetic patients with end-stage heart failure, yet no previous study has specifically examined the clinical outcomes of this patient population.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on all patients who underwent LVAD insertion at a single institution from June 17, 1996 to April 14, 2004.
Background: Patients with low ejection fraction (EF) are at a higher risk for postoperative complications and mortality. Our objective was to assess the effect of low EF on clinical outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Methods And Results: We analyzed 55,515 patients from New York State database who underwent CABG between 1997 and 1999.
Background: Successful thyroid tissue ablation of patients with well-differentiated thyroid cancer can be defined by a negative whole-body scan (WBS) and/or an undetectable thyroglobulin (Tg).
