Objective: The aim of the present study was to conduct a systematic review of the literature on changes in the trabecular bone of individuals with and without bruxism assessed through fractal analysis of panoramic radiographs.
Methods: The review followed the PRISMA guidelines and used the PECOS strategy to formulate the research question and eligibility criteria, considering observational studies that analyzed changes in the mandibular trabecular bone of adults with and without bruxism. Two reviewers made the selection and a third reviewer intervened in cases of disagreement.
Background: The efficacy of clear aligner treatment (CAT) in space closure following premolar extraction (SCaPE) and its resistance to unwanted tooth movement remain uncertain. This systematic review aims to evaluate the efficacy, predictability, and resistance to unwanted tooth movement by CAT for SCaPE.
Methods: Pre-post studies, randomized, and non-randomized clinical trials were included.
Objective: To compare the levels of interleukin (IL)-1 beta (IL-1β), alpha (IL-1α), receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), IL-10 and IL-13 in peri-mini-screw crevicular fluid (PMCF) between unloaded and immediately loaded mini-screws during orthodontic treatment.
Design: Single-centre paired split-mouth controlled trial.
Participants: Patients who required at least two mini-screws as a part of their orthodontic treatment at orthodontic clinic of School of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (USP) were recruited.
Objective: Several studies have highlighted the toxic potential of bisphenol A (BPA), however, BPA release from orthopedic devices remains poorly investigated. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate BPA levels in the saliva of children treated using Haas expanders.
Methods: Twenty-two children of both sexes aged 6-10 years who required rapid maxillary expansion were recruited.
The aim was to evaluate the association between dental development (dental maturity) and genetic polymorphisms in PTH and genes involved in vitamin D synthesis in a cohort of Brazilian children. This retrospective cross-sectional study was performed on children receiving orthodontic treatment. Patients who had already undergone orthodontic treatment previously, those with syndromes, congenital anomalies, craniofacial deformities, and those with a previous history of dental trauma and bilateral agenesis/missing tooth/teeth were excluded.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the insertion torque (IT), flexural strength (FS) and surface alterations between stainless steel (SS-MIs) and titanium alloy (Ti-MIs) orthodontic mini-implants.
Methods: Twenty-four MIs (2 x 10 mm; SS-MIs, n = 12; Ti-MIs, n = 12) were inserted on artificial bone blocks of 20 lb/ft3 (20 PCF) and 40 lb/ft3 (40 PCF) density. The maximum IT was recorded using a digital torque meter.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the microbial contamination of three different brands of esthetic elastomeric ligatures.
Materials And Methods: Different brands of esthetic ligatures (Unistick Pearl [American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, WI, USA], Power Sticks Pearl [Ortho Technology, Tampa, FL, USA], and Ease [Obscure, 3M Unitek, Monrovia, CA, USA]) were randomly assigned to permanent canines of 25 patients (aged 11-18 years) undergoing corrective orthodontic treatment. After 30 days, the ligatures were removed, processed, and the biofilm composition was analyzed by checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridization for 40 bacterial species.

Background: This study evaluated if genetic variations in the WNT family members and RUNX2 are associated with craniofacial maturation, investigating dental and skeletal maturity in children and teenagers.
Methods: Radiographs from pre-orthodontic treatment of Brazilian patients (7 to 17 years-old) were used to assess dental (panoramic radiographs) and skeletal maturity (cephalometric radiographs). The chronological age (CA) was calculated based on the date of birth and the time the radiographs were performed.
This study aimed to evaluate the association of the variables age, gender, arch position, tooth length, root canal amplitude, and periapical lesion size with the occurrence of postoperative signs and symptoms (pain, tenderness, and edema) and the use of postoperative analgesics following root canal treatment with foraminal enlargement in single-rooted teeth with apical periodontitis. This prospective longitudinal study included 105 patients requiring root canal treatment of maxillary or mandibular single-rooted teeth with periapical lesion. After root canal treatment in a single session, pain intensity and tenderness were recorded daily for 7 days and on days 14 and 30.
