Frustrated magnetic systems arising in geometrically constrained lattices represent rich platforms for exploring unconventional phases of matter, including fractional magnetization plateaus, incommensurate orders and complex domain dynamics. However, determining the microscopic spin configurations that stabilize such phases is a key challenge, especially when in-plane and out-of-plane spin components coexist and compete. Urbanization has drastically altered natural habitats, forcing non-human primates (NHPs) to adapt to human-modified environments. This study examines one such adaptation undertaken by free-ranging Hanuman langurs residing in Dakshineswar, a temple area and a tourist hub in West Bengal. Our observations reveal that they have come up with solicitation behaviors resembling human begging wherein they ask for food from nearby humans using various gestures.

Geometric frustration in two-dimensional Ising models allows for a wealth of exotic universal behavior, both Ising and non-Ising, in the presence of quantum fluctuations. In particular, the triangular antiferromagnet and Villain model in a transverse field can be understood through distinct XY pseudospins, but have qualitatively similar phase diagrams including a quantum phase transition in the (2+1)-dimensional XY universality class. While the quantum dynamics of modestly-sized systems can be simulated classically using tensor-based methods, these methods become infeasible for larger lattices.

Pyrene fluorescence in aqueous solutions of two surface active ionic liquids, namely, 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, and 1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was investigated in presence of a biopolymer sodium alginate. The principal objective of this study was to explore the influence of the length of the hydrocarbon tails of these surface active ionic liquids on the possible location of the probe (pyrene) molecules in presence of the additive. While an abrupt decrease in the values of the ratio of the intensity of the first vibronic band to that of the third band of pyrene emission spectrum with concentration was observed for 1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride in presence of sodium alginate like the polymer-free case reported earlier, there was a peculiar reversal for 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride + sodium alginate.

Indium(iii) phthalocyanine chloride deposited on Pb(100) is studied by scanning tunnelling spectroscopy at cryogenic temperatures. The Cl ions are dissociated and the remaining indium phthalocyanine (InPc) is observed in two states with the metal ion pointing to (↓) or away (↑) from the substrate. Isolated molecules and islands with a superstructure and a unit cell of four inequivalent molecules, namely one InPc↑ and three InPc↓ in different sites, are observed.

Rheotaxis is a fundamental mechanism of sperm cells that guides them in navigating towards the oocyte. The present study investigates the phenomenon of sperm rheotaxis in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid media, which for the first time explores a viscosity range equivalent to that of the oviductal fluid of the female reproductive tract in rectilinear microfluidic channels. Three parameters, the progressive velocity while performing rheotaxis, the radius of rotation during rheotaxis, and the percentage of rheotactic sperm cells in the bulk and near-wall regions of the microfluidic channel were measured.

Adipocyte is a predominant component of the omental adipose tissue that influences the tumor microenvironment and increases the risk of endometrial cancer progression (EC), however, little is known about the underlying mechanism. In this study, using a co-culture model, we found that the adipocyte-EC cell interaction promoted SIRT1 signaling in vitro and in vivo xenograft mice models. Furthermore, immunostaining of SIRT1 protein showed significantly higher expression of SIRT1 in endometrial cancer patients than in normal endometria.

Background: The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis is pivotal in regulating reproductive functions, with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) acting as a central regulator. Recently, polyamines have been shown to regulate the HPG axis, including GnRH expression and ovarian biology in old and adult rodents. The present study firstly highlights the age-specific variation in the polyamine and their corresponding biosynthetic enzymes in the ovary during aging, and further, the study focuses on the effect of polyamines, putrescine, and agmatine, in young female mice.
