Over 95% of ependymomas that arise in the cortex are driven by a gene fusion involving the zinc finger translocation-associated (ZFTA) protein. Here, using super-resolution and lattice light-sheet microscopy, we demonstrate that the most frequent fusion variant, ZFTA-RELA (ZR), forms dynamic nuclear condensates that are required for oncogene expression and tumorigenesis. Mutagenesis studies of ZR reveal a key intrinsically disordered region (IDR) in RELA that governs condensate formation.

NUP98 fusion oncoproteins (FOs) are a hallmark of childhood acute myeloid leukemia (AML). NUP98 FOs drive leukemogenesis through phase-separated condensate formation and maintenance of an active chromatin landscape at stem cell-associated genes in cooperation with epigenetic regulators. Here we show that MYST family histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex proteins including KAT6A/MOZ, KAT7/HBO1, and the common KAT6A/7 complex subunit BRPF1 associate with NUP98 FOs on chromatin and within condensates.

In this study, we report a selective aliphatic C-H bond chlorination mediated by Fe-bTAML (bTAML: biuret-modified tetraamido macrocyclic ligand) using sodium hypochlorite as the chlorine source. The reaction predominantly yields chlorinated products over hydroxylated ones across various unactivated C-H bonds in acetonitrile-water medium. The formation of rearranged chlorinated products in norcarane and the absence of stereo-retention in -dimethylcyclohexane suggests the involvement of a long-lived, cage-escaped carbon radical intermediate.

Air pollution pertaining to particulate matter (PM) is a major issue in most of the metropolitan cities across the world. Inhalation exposure to organic species like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), derivatives of PAHs (oxygenated and nitrated PAHs), and phthalic acid esters (PAEs) bound to PM is of major concern owing to its carcinogenic, mutagenic, and endocrine disrupting nature. In this study for the first time, we report a total of 22 aromatic organic species which include PAHs, derivatives of PAHs, and PAEs using an optimized high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to the tandem mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS/MS) method.

To achieve focused and site-specific hyperthermia, Rf-responsive materials is required to convert Rf radiation into localized heat efficiently. Nanoparticles capable of absorbing Rf energy and convert into heat for targeted ablation are of critical importance.
