Cross-sectional imaging of pancreatic leak: a pictorial review.

Pancreatic leaks occur when a disruption in the pancreatic ductal system results in the leakage of pancreatic enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and proteases into the abdominal cavity. While often associated with pancreatic surgical procedures, trauma and necrotizing pancreatitis are also common culprits. Cross-sectional imaging, particularly computed tomography, plays a crucial role in assessing postoperative conditions and identifying both early and late complications, including pancreatic leaks.

Distinct CT imaging features of new liver metastases from primary genitourinary cancers.

Purpose: To apply natural language processing (NLP) to a large volume of structured radiology reports in the investigation of CT imaging features of new liver metastases from primary genitourinary cancers.

Methods: In this retrospective study, a previously reported NLP model was applied to consecutive structured CT reports from 2016 to 2022 to predict those patients with primary genitourinary cancer who developed liver metastasis. Pathology or imaging follow-up served as the reference standard for validating NLP predictions.

Analysis of the involvement of the thyroid gland using computed tomography in patients with suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection: a retrospective study.

Objective: SARS-CoV-2 primarily infects the respiratory tract and leads to severe pneumonia by binding to the ACE-2 receptor. The virus can also interact with ACE-2 receptors expressed in other tissues as in thyroid. This study predicted the complications involving the thyroid in patients with suspected SARS-CoV-2.

Revision of the failed pedicle screw in osteoporotic lumbar spine: biomechanical comparison of kyphoplasty versus transpedicular polymethylmethacrylate augmentation.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare of kyphoplasty versus transpedicular polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) augmentation biomechanically in the revision of the failed pedicle screw in osteoporotic lumbar spine.

Materials And Methods: Bone mineral density (BMD) of lumbar vertebrae collected from four bovines were measured. Each vertebra was decalcified with hydrochloric acid solution to obtain osteoporotic specimens.
