Introduction: Identifying risk factors for pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may improve risk stratification and guide surgeons in prophylaxis selection. This study aimed to identify factors associated with postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) following TKA.

Methods: A national healthcare database was queried for adults who underwent primary, elective TKA from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2020.

Background: The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) publishes clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for various pathologies. An extension to the Consolidated Standards for Reporting (CONSORT) checklist provides authors with a framework for reporting harms in randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to measure harms reporting among RCTs cited as supporting evidence for the AAOS CPG on the treatment of clavicle fractures.

Purpose: To compare the patient-reported outcomes between patients with posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction or repair alone versus PCL reconstruction or repair with internal bracing (IB) in the context of multi-ligament knee injuries (MLKI).

Methods: All patients who underwent surgical management of MLKI at two institutions between 2006 and 2020 were retrospectively identified and offered participation in the study. Patient reported outcomes were measured via three instruments: Lysholm Knee score, Multiligament Quality of Life (ML-QOL), and the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) computer adaptive testing (CAT).

Article Synopsis
  • CD19 CAR T-cell therapy is effective for B cell cancers but faces challenges like relapse and varying patient responses.
  • The study explored how the bone marrow microenvironment's transcriptomic profile can influence outcomes of the therapy, identifying key genetic signatures tied to clinical remission.
  • It was found that patients who responded well had higher activity in T cell activation pathways, while non-responders showed increased activity in cell cycle checkpoints, suggesting enhancing pro-inflammatory signals in the bone marrow could improve therapy efficacy.
