Objective: The objectives of this consensus document were to establish a standardized list of high-risk medications for the pediatric population and to compile the recommended practices for their safe use with the aim of promoting the implementation of medication error prevention programs in health care centers.
Method: The Ministry of Health, the Spanish Institute for Safe Medication Practices, the Spanish Association of Pediatrics and the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy and regional administration representatives participated in the project. The Recommendations for the Safe Use of High-Risk Medications was used as reference, and its contents adapted and expanded to address specific issues in the pediatric population based on the current evidence.
Background: Telemedicine is a means of providing efficient treatment for children with complex chronic conditions and/or subsidiary palliative paediatric care.
Aim: To evaluate how satisfied families and healthcare professionals are with a telemedicine programme.
Methodology: This is a qualitative study of narrative design.
Background: Salvage radiotherapy (SRT) and androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) are widely used in routine clinical practice to treat patients with prostate cancer who develop biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy (RP). However, there is no standard-of-care consensus on optimal duration ADT. Immunotherapy has represented one of the main medical revolutions of recent decades, and is currently a consolidated treatment for different types of tumors at different stages and scenarios, and is present in a multitude of clinical trials. One of the diseases in which it is most developed is non-small cell lung cancer. The combination of radiotherapy and immunotherapy in cancer in general and lung cancer in particular currently represents one of the main focuses of basic and clinical research in oncology, due to the synergy of this interaction, which can improve tumor response, resulting in improved survival and disease control.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare tumor with poor prognosis and rising incidence. Palliative care is common in MPM as radical treatment with curative intent is often not possible due to metastasis or extensive locoregional involvement. Unlabelled: Treatment of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer has undergone considerable change in recent years. Areas of great interest to researchers include less invasive surgical methods with lower associated morbidity, indications for adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the emergence of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for peripheral and central or ultracentral tumors, and the probable role of adjuvant immunotherapy following surgery and SBRT, all of which may influence the management of these patients.
Relevance For Patients: At present, the treatment of early stage non-small cell lung cancer is undergoing changes associated with the evolution of existing treatments and the advent of new treatments.
The coronavirus disease 2019 crisis has had a major and highly complex impact on the clinical practice of radiation oncology worldwide. Spain is one of the countries hardest hit by the virus, with devastating consequences. There is an urgent need to share experiences and offer guidance on decision-making with regard to the indications and standards for radiation therapy in the treatment of lung cancer.

Background: Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) and anesthetic preconditioning (APC) have been reported to attenuate ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury after liver resection under continuous inflow occlusion. This study evaluates whether these strategies enhance hepatic protection of remnant liver against IR after liver resection with intermittent clamping (INT).
Methods: A total of 106 patients without underlying liver disease and submitted to liver resection using INT were randomized into 3 groups: IPC (10 minutes of inflow occlusion followed by 10 minutes of reperfusion before liver transection), APC (sevoflurane administration for 20 minutes before liver transection), and INT (no preconditioning).
Background: Documenting the distribution of radiotherapy departments and the availability of radiotherapy equipment in the European countries is an important part of HERO - the ESTRO Health Economics in Radiation Oncology project. HERO has the overall aim to develop a knowledge base of the provision of radiotherapy in Europe and build a model for health economic evaluation of radiation treatments at the European level.
