Purpose: This rapid scoping review examined clinical test measure literature among veterans with self-perceived hearing handicap with normal audiometric threshold configurations (SPHH-NA) and those with normal audiometric thresholds and no self-perceived hearing handicap to determine which tests differentiate these groups.

Method: A rapid scoping review in the PubMed and CINAHL databases was completed. Articles included met the following criteria: experimental studies, written in English, with full online article access, participants who were U.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) is a Ca-permeable channel activated by diverse physical and chemical stimuli, including mechanical stress and endogenous lipid arachidonic acid (AA) and its metabolites. Phosphorylation of TRPV4 by protein kinase A (PKA) and protein kinase C (PKC) is a predominant mechanism for channel regulation, especially in the cytoplasmic domains due to their importance in protein assembly, and channelopathies. However, studies corresponding to phosphorylation sites for these kinases remain incomplete.

Transient receptor potential (TRP) channel TRPV4 is a polymodal cellular sensor that responds to moderate heat, cell swelling, shear stress, and small-molecule ligands. It is involved in thermogenesis, regulation of vascular tone, bone homeostasis, renal and pulmonary functions. TRPV4 is implicated in neuromuscular and skeletal disorders, pulmonary edema, and cancers, and represents an important drug target.
