Background: Indications for primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) have become more inclusive of morbidly obese patients, however, higher rates of complications and lower implant survival have also been reported in this population. Bilateral intertrochanteric (IT) femur fractures are rare, and appropriate evaluation and treatment can vary depending on concurrent patient comorbidities. Even less has been described for patients with bilateral IT fractures with pre-existing paraplegia.
