Objetives: To design the patient onboarding in a multidisciplinary severe asthma unit, according to the needs identified by patients and professionals in the unit.
Methods: Qualitative study using the human-centred design conducted between November 2022 and February 2023. Patients and professionals from the severe asthma unit and experts in the methodology participated.

Introduction: The recent term phubbing is the amalgamation of the words phone and snubbing, and refers to those phone-related behaviors through which we ignore, dismiss, or otherwise eschew social interactions. Little is known about phubbing among child and adolescent psychiatrists (CAPs), a group often called upon to provide direction on how to guide children in their rapidly evolving cybernetic contexts.
Methods: We conducted a mixed methods study of trainees in CAP (n = 73; 68% women), recruited in the US (6 training programs; n = 35) and Türkiye (5 programs; n = 38).
Severe infectious diseases remain the leading cause of death in children and young adults worldwide. Monogenic inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) are traditionally defined as a heterogeneous group of rare inborn genetic diseases affecting the functioning of the immune system. Greater awareness has led to the clinical definition of 485 monogenic IEIs and whole exome sequencing (WES) is becoming increasingly relevant for IEI genetic diagnosis.

Background: The 2019 outbreak of COVID-19, a severe acute respiratory infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, triggered a global pandemic with far-reaching consequences. Societies worldwide felt the effects of the virus and pandemic related restrictive measures on their economies, healthcare systems, and social fabric. To curb the spread of COVID-19, numerous restrictive measures were implemented.

Background: Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most common autoimmune blistering disease, with a rising incidence in the elderly. BP is associated with multiple triggering factors, including drug exposure. However, evidence in this respect is limited, and the underlying immune mechanisms remain unknown.

Cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among oncology patients, with an incidence influenced by tumor type, stage, treatment, and molecular characteristics. This review explores the molecular determinants of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in cancer, emphasizing its pathophysiology and association with specific oncogenic alterations. Certain molecular profiles exhibit heightened VTE risk.

Supporting this notion, several studies based on observed precipitation data spanning recent decades have suggested a decrease in Mediterranean precipitation, with some attributing a large fraction of this change to anthropogenic influences. Conversely, certain researchers have underlined that Mediterranean precipitation exhibits considerable spatiotemporal variability driven by atmospheric circulation patterns maintaining stationarity over the long term.

Studies investigating IV typically begin with a short initial course of ibrutinib, followed by venetoclax introduction for a limited duration, typically 12 months. The Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK) 34/17 study is a single-arm, multicenter, phase 2 trial evaluating the effectiveness of a modified IV schedule in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) CLL.

Aim: We tested the utility of showing "selfie" videos to increase adolescents' climate change hope, agency, and behavioral intentions, and to decrease their climate anxiety.
Methods: We conducted a randomized controlled trial among healthy volunteers, ages 14 to 18, enrolled through a crowdsourcing platform. We randomly assigned participants (N = 1039) to view one of three 110-s-long video interventions featuring the same adolescent protagonist: positive (depicting an action-oriented stance); negative (defeatist stance); and control (neutral stance and unrelated content).

Background: Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic and often severe mental illness. Yet despite the well-documented complexities in its diagnosis and treatment, little research has been dedicated to understanding the complex inner landscape experienced by those living with BD. Even as qualitative research has explored the lived experience of BD across a variety of perspectives, i.

In chronic lymphocytic leukemia, the reliability of next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect variants ≤10% allelic frequency (low-VAF) is debated. We tested the ability to detect 23 such variants in 41 different laboratories using their NGS method of choice. The sensitivity was 85.

Although barriers to help-seeking such as stigma are well documented, interventions to address stigma and to increase help-seeking behavior are insufficient. Dissemination of short videos in social media offer a promising approach, but designing effective stimuli requires better insight into adolescents' perspectives of their own experiences, barriers, and possible interventions.

These self-perceptions pose a significant barrier to treatment-seeking and may exacerbate psychiatric distress. Prior research indicates that social contact-based interventions are effective in reducing stigma, but no study to date has examined their impact on self-stigma and increasing openness to treatment-seeking among CM survivors.

Descriptions of such training are lacking in the literature. We developed a formative standardised patient encounter on death notification over the telephone for fourth-year medical students and evaluated their qualitative perspectives, including emotional safety.

Introduction: Difficult-to-treat-resistant (DTR) infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa represent a global public health threat, prioritizing the search and development of new antibiotics for this microorganism.
Methods: We present the real-life experience of the compassionate use of imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam in a descriptive study involving 14 patients with DTR-P. aeruginosa infection and limited treatment options.
: In clinical practice, neutropenia is frequently accompanied by other cytopenia; isolated non-chemotherapy-induced severe neutropenia is less frequent and its differential diagnosis can be challenging. In this real-world study with data collected over a 5-year period in a tertiary referral hospital, we primarily sought to identify underlying causes of isolated severe neutropenia (<0.5 × 10/L).

Yet, the mechanisms linking childhood maltreatment and these psychopathologies remain less clear. Here we examined whether self-stigma, the internalization of negative stereotypes about one's experiences, mediates the relationship between childhood maltreatment and symptom severity of depression, PTSD, and anxiety.

IL-27 has antiviral activities and modulates both innate and adaptive immune responses against viruses. The role of IL-27 in the setting of viral infections is not well defined and both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory functions have been described.

This study assesses the acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, and efficacy of a novel asynchronous video-based intervention for teaching respiratory physiology and anatomy to medical students in resource-limited settings. A series of short video lectures on pleural anatomy, pulmonary physiology, and pathophysiology was created using Lightboard and screen capture technology. These were uploaded to YouTube and Google Drive and made available to 1st-3rd year medical students at two Latin American universities for 1 week.

Recent research underscores the vital role social media can play in enhancing mental health awareness and encouraging help-seeking behaviors among youth. Nevertheless, the inherent risks of social media highlight the need for the careful creation of safe, effective content. This editorial outlines our strategy of using crowdsourcing platforms to develop and refine video interventions before launching a targeted Instagram campaign featuring these evidence-based videos.

Objective: Qualitative research methods are based on the analysis of words rather than numbers; they encourage self-reflection on the investigator's part; they are attuned to social interaction and nuance; and they incorporate their subjects' thoughts and feelings as primary sources. Despite appearing well suited for research in child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP), qualitative methods have had relatively minor uptake in the discipline. We conducted a qualitative study of CAPs involved in qualitative research to learn about these investigators' lived experiences, and to identify modifiable factors to promote qualitative methods within the field of youth mental health.
