Objective: This study aimed to assess the efficacy of a metal artifact reduction (MAR) algorithm for cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of teeth with ceramic brackets with/without coated archwires.

Material And Methods: In this in vitro study, 10 ceramic brackets were bonded to maxillary anterior teeth from the second premolar of one side to the second premolar of the other side on a dry human skull. CBCT scans (85 kVp, 8 mA, 14.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a metal artifact reduction (MAR) algorithm on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of titanium and zirconia implants, both within and outside the field of view (FOV).

Materials And Methods: In this study, a dry human mandible was positioned in a CBCT scanner with only its left quadrant included in the FOV. Each type of implant (titanium and zirconia) was placed once in the right second premolar extraction socket and once in the left second premolar extraction socket of the mandible.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the accuracy of a two-stage deep learning (DL) model for (1) detecting mandibular third molars (MTMs) and the mandibular canal (MC), and (2) classifying the anatomical relationship between these structures (contact/no contact) on panoramic radiographs.

Method: MTMs and MCs were labeled on panoramic radiographs by a calibrated examiner using bounding boxes. Each bounding box contained MTM and MC on one side.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effect of needle insertion angle on pain during labial infiltration anesthesia in the anterior maxillary region.

Material And Methods: In this parallel-design randomized clinical trial, participants were randomly assigned to four groups for labial infiltration anesthesia of the anterior maxilla. Local anesthesia was performed with needle orientation parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth using a conventional syringe (Syringe-0), needle at α angle with a conventional syringe (Syringe-α), computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery (CCLAD) device parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth (CCLAD-0), and CCLAD at α angle (CCLAD-α).

Introduction: Folinic acid and botulinum toxin A have shown promising results in wound healing in different studies. This study aimed to compare the effects of these approaches on wound healing after simulating cleft lip surgery in rats.

Methods: In this experimental animal study, after creating lip defects, 30 rats were randomly divided into three groups and received normal saline (CTL), botulinum toxin A (BOT), and folinic acid (FOL).

Background: Dentists begin the diagnosis by identifying and enumerating teeth. Panoramic radiographs are widely used for tooth identification due to their large field of view and low exposure dose. The automatic numbering of teeth in panoramic radiographs can assist clinicians in avoiding errors.

Individuals with COVID-19 are prone to a variety of infections due to immune dysregulation. The present report presents a case of actinomycotic infection in the maxillary bone and sinus region in a patient with a history of COVID-19. This case report highlights the importance of considering bacterial infections including actinomycosis when encountering destructive lesions resembling more prevalent fungal infections due to different therapeutic medication protocols.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of using anti-stress balls in reducing patients' pain during injection of the inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB).

Materials And Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 32 individuals were divided into two groups. The conventional method of anesthesia injection was performed using IANB conventional injection technique.

Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) is a debilitating complication following radiation therapy, which in the head and neck region, occurs most frequently in the mandible. Although ORN is rare, it is complex and multifactorial and requires appropriate management. Manipulation of bone in patients with head and neck cancers before radiotherapy can cause ORN.

Background: The ability to control pain is an essential part of dental procedures and the need for optimal pain control and reduction of discomfort is the primary concern of every dentist. This study aims to compare the pain and vital signs during inferior alveolar nerve block between conventional and a new modification of the two-step injection techniques.

Methods: In this institutional single-blind randomized clinical trial, attendees of dental school at Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences from February to May 2022 were included.

The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of folinic acid chitosan hydrogel and botulinum toxin A on the wound repair of cleft lip surgery in rat animal models. Cleft lip defects were simulated by triangular incisions in the upper lip of 40 Wistar rats. Then, the rats were randomly assigned to four groups: control (CTRL), chitosan hydrogel (CHIT), and folinic acid chitosan hydrogel (FOLCHIT), in which the wounds were covered by a gauze pad soaked in normal saline, chitosan hydrogel, and folinic acid chitosan hydrogel, respectively for 5 min immediately after closure; and botulinum toxin A (BOT) with the injection of 3 units of botulinum toxin A in the wound region.

The objective is to formulate a silver nanoparticle mouthwash and then evaluate its antimicrobial and wound-healing effects in rabbit animal models. Microbial samples were collected from the oral cavity of 60 rabbits. Thereafter, standardized wounds were created in the lateral border of the tongue on the right side for all rabbits.

Background: Many dental procedures begin with local anesthesia. Subsequent increase in blood pressure in healthy individuals commonly occurs and may be affected by several factors such as mental and physical stress, painful stimuli, and action of catecholamines present in local anesthetic solutions. The aim of the present study is to compare the effects of 4% articaine with 1 : 100000 epinephrine and 2% lidocaine with 1 : 80000 epinephrine on blood pressure after maxillary infiltration technique.

Objective: To assess the effects of opaque eye coverage on anxiety in candidates for surgical removal of impacted third molars.

Study Design: This randomized clinical trial was conducted in candidates for surgical extraction of bilateral, vertical, class IC impacted maxillary third molars or bilateral, mesioangular class IC impacted mandibular third molars. Patients with moderate anxiety (dental anxiety scale range, 9-14) were selected.

Background: Dry socket or alveolar osteitis is a delayed healing of alveolar bone after exodontia causing moderate to severe pain 2-4 days after extraction of teeth. Antibacterial agents such as antibiotics and chlorhexidine have been previously proved to prevent or reduce the incidence of dry socket. Betadine is a mixture of iodine and povidone which has bactericidal, antifungal and antiviral effects.
