- A rare case of a central venous catheter infection from this species was successfully treated by salvaging the catheter, illustrating management strategies and potential risk factors involved.
Cases of central line blood infections caused by spp. are limited in the literature. Most of those infections have been detected in hospitalized patients with severe underlying disease or those with implanted catheters or with suppressed immunity.
