Background: Diet, physical activity, and general lifestyle modifications are implicated in metabolic pathway prevention and may improve some chronic diseases such as metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study is to measure the effectiveness of a short-time nutrition restriction regime combined with a daily practice of physical and creative activities on metabolic syndrome parameters, inflammasome status, and the compliance of the patients to the proposed scheme.

Methods: This pilot study analyzed 95 volunteers who took part in a residential one-week lasting experimental lifestyle period.

Can We Apply Snyder's Arthroscopic Classification to Ultrasound for Evaluating Rotator Cuff Tears? A Comparative Study with MR Arthrography.

We aimed to demonstrate the applicability of Snyder's arthroscopic classification of rotator cuff tears (RCT) in shoulder ultrasound (US) and to compare it with MR arthrography (MRA). Forty-six patients (34 males; mean age:34 ± 14 years) underwent shoulder US and MRA. The aim of our study was to evaluate the benefits of a low-pressure insufflation system (AirSeal) vs. a standard insufflation system in terms of anesthesiologists’ parameters and postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery for early-stage endometrial cancer. Objective: To analyze oncological patients' perception of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: A total of 345 women, of whom 267 experienced breast cancer and 78 experienced a gynecological cancer, were enrolled. Specific questionnaires about their experiences and feelings about telemedicine in the COVID-19 era were collected.

Risk of unexpected uterine leiomyosarcoma during laparoscopic procedures: Experience from a single tertiary institute in Italy.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients who underwent gynecological laparoscopic surgery for presumed uterine fibroids at Sant'Anna Hospital, a single tertiary institute in Turin, Italy, between January 2003 and December 2019.

Methods: A total of 340 COVID-19 patients who underwent CXR in the ED setting (March 1-13, 2020) were retrospectively included. Two reviewers independently assessed CXR abnormalities, including ground-glass opacities (GGOs) and consolidation.

Vacuum intraoperative specimen mammography: A novel technique.

Objective: Intraoperative specimen mammography (ISM) is a diffuse technique that allows surgeons to check specimens immediately after lumpectomy. Although the specimen is slightly compressed, the radiological image can be distorted by tissue overlap, and this may affect the evaluation of tumour borders, resulting in extension of the lumpectomy. As ISM may be less precise due to inadequate compression, a vacuum effect was applied to the specimen to increase the precision of margin detection.

A rare case of ovarian adenomyoma mimicking primary invasive ovarian cancer with a contralateral serous borderline ovarian tumor: A case report and review of the literature.

Extrauterine adenomyoma is a rare type of benign tumor, characterized by nodular aggregate of smooth muscle, endometrial glands and endometrial stroma, arising outside the uterus. In this study we describe a case of primary ovarian adenomyoma associated with endometriotic cysts with contralateral serous borderline tumor in a 40-year-old woman and we highlight how preoperative exams could lead to the suspicious of invasive cancer. We provide a review of the literature, analyzing all cases of extrauterine adenomyoma published so far, classifying them on the basis of pathogenetic theories proposed, localization of the lesion, imaging modalities and treatment adopted.

CASE REPORT PASH is reported in a young female in treatment for neurological diseases with multi-drug therapy (clonazepam, valproate and risperidone). Her menstrual cycles are irregular, and she reached menarche very late.

Tracheal diverticula: A retrospective analysis of patients referred for thoracic CT.

To assess the prevalence of tracheal diverticula (TD) in patients referred for thoracic Computed Tomography (CT).1679 consecutive patients subjected to thoracic CT examination for different causes, from January to June 2017, were included in this cohort study. CT was performed with a 64 slice CT, using a standard protocol and Multiplanar Reformat Images (MPR).

We created a consent form with key information presented in bulleted texts and diagrams combined in a graphical format to facilitate the understanding of information during the verbal consent discussion.

Learning curve for endorectal ultrasound in young and elderly: lights and shades.

Aim of the study is to highlight difficulties faced by an inexperienced surgeon in approaching endorectal-ultrasound, trying to define when learning curve can be considered complete. A prospective analysis was conducted on endorectal-ultrasound performed for subperitoneal rectal adenocarcinoma staging in the period from January 2008 to July 2013, reported by a single surgeon of Department of Oncology, Section of General Surgery, "San Luigi Gonzaga" Teaching Hospital, Orbassano (Turin, Italy); the surgeon had no previous experience in endorectal-ultrasound. Fourty-six endorectal-ultrasounds were divided into two groups: early group (composed by 23 endorectal-ultrasounds, made from January 2008 to May 2009) and late group (composed by 23 endorectal-ultrasound, carried out from June 2009 to July 2013).

Laparoscopic management of non-midline incisional hernia: A multicentric study.

Background: The laparoscopic repair of non-midline ventral hernia (LNM) has been debated. The aim of this study is to analyze our experience performing the laparoscopic approach to non-midline ventral hernias (NMVHs) in Northwest Italy for 6 years.

Methods: A total of 78 patients who underwent LNM between March 2008 and March 2014 in the selected institutions were analyzed.

An unusual evolution of a case of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.

Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome (KTS) is a rare congenital disorder. KTS can be diagnosed on the basis of any 2 of 3 features: cutaneous capillary malformations, soft tissue or bony hypertrophy and varicose veins. We present an unusual case of KTS complicated by an infection of venous ulcers of the lower limb by larvae.

Abdominal compartment syndrome and open abdomen management with negative pressure devices.

Background: Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is defined as an increase of intra-abdominal pressure (IAH) to values higher than 20 mmHg, associated with reduced perfusion and organ dysfunction.

Materials And Methods: There is a classification of open abdomen which stratifies patients according to the natural history of improvement or clinical deterioration. The aim of treatment is to maintain the open abdomen at the lowest level and to prevent progression to a more complex level.

Endorectal ultrasound in the diagnosis of rectal cancer: accuracy and criticies.

Introduction: Endorectal ultrasound (ERU) is used for locoregional staging of rectal cancer. Our work compares the data in the literature regarding diagnostic accuracy of the technique and results of routine use of the technique in two centers in Piedmont.

Material And Methods: 77 reports ultrasound with the final diagnosis of rectal cancer from the period 2008-2012 were examined.

Percutaneous drainage and sclerosis of mesenteric cysts: literature overview and report of an innovative approach.

We present the case of a 29-years-old male patient, affected by a voluminous post-traumatic mesenteric cyst, a rare abdominal disease; our patient represents a rarely affected age group. Treatment was based on interventional radiology with an US-guided drainage and sclerosis by ethyl alcohol of the lesion. The intervention performed on this patient represents the application of a standardized radiological technique to a new contest, mesenteric cysts, whose gold-standard treatment is represented in literature by surgery.
