To assess the acute effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), stretching was applied to the hamstring muscles to evaluate deep cervical flexor endurance. Potential variables correlating with endurance adaptations were examined. This randomized controlled trial performed between September 2023 and June 2024 included healthy female university students aged 18-25 years.

One of the most pressing medical and social problems in the world is the widespread prevalence of chronic age-associated pathology, which includes metabolic syndrome. Metabolic inflammation accompanying metabolic diseases and aging have a common pathogenesis, the basis of which is the activation of the innate immune system and an increase in the inflammatory background. During the aging process, chronic, asymptomatic, sluggish inflammation develops, called inflamaging, which leads to a cascade of pathological changes that disrupt the functions of adipose tissue and the endocrine system, and thereby contributes to the development of a number of diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how hamstring flexibility affects neck motion and deep neck muscle endurance, suggesting a connection between the hamstring and neck muscles within a myofascial network.
  • Sixty healthy participants, aged around 22, were tested for hamstring flexibility and cervical range of motion, using specific tests to measure results.
  • Findings indicated no significant difference in neck motion between groups, but those with limited hamstring flexibility had lower endurance in neck muscles, supporting the idea of interconnectedness between these body regions.
