Challenges in Follow-up After Kidney-sparing Surgery for Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma: Insights from a Delphi Consensus.

Background And Objective: Kidney-sparing surgery (KSS) is the preferred treatment for patients with low-risk upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC), offering a balance between oncologic efficacy and renal preservation. However, follow-up protocols are lacking due to insufficient evidence, resulting in clinical variability. In response, a Delphi consensus process has been initiated with the aim to refine and establish unified surveillance recommendations following KSS for low-risk UTUC.

Uncovering the Risk: Incidence of Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma Following Renal Transplantation in the Netherlands.

Background And Objective: Renal transplant (RTx) recipients appear to have an elevated risk of urothelial carcinoma compared with the general population. While Asia reports a high incidence of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) following RTx, this incidence remains underinvestigated in Western countries. The main objective of this study is to determine the incidence of UTUC after RTx in the Netherlands, and to evaluate and compare the incidence and tumour characteristics with those of the general Dutch population diagnosed with UTUC.

Background: Radical cystectomy is the recommended treatment in muscle-invasive bladder cancer patients with hydronephrosis. However, there is no literature on the impact of chemoradiotherapy on pre-existing hydronephrosis or the development of new hydronephrosis. This study aims to assess the incidence, aetiology, and management of hydronephrosis before and after chemoradiotherapy (CRT).

A Nationwide Real-world Evaluation of Upfront Cytoreductive Nephrectomy in Patients with Synchronous Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma in the Immunotherapy Era.

Background And Objective: Since the advent of targeted therapy, deferred cytoreductive nephrectomy (dCN) has been offered to patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) who respond to systemic therapy. Transition to the immunotherapy (IO) era necessitates a re-evaluation of the role of upfront CN (uCN) in mRCC management. Our aim was to determine whether uCN improves overall survival (OS) in patients with mRCC receiving IO in comparison to tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy.
