A spiroannulation reaction of β-ketothioamides with aromatic β-bromoenals and aromatic α-bromoenals via selective -Michael addition and -Michael addition-triggered cascade reactions has been developed. This protocol provides a novel and rapid approach for the synthesis of substituted spirothiopyran and spirothiophene derivatives under mild conditions with moderate to good yields and a broad substrate scope.

Background: Food labelling policy has become increasingly important in public health due to the rising burden of diet-related diseases. This study examines the compliance of pre-packaged foods sold in Nigerian markets with national food labelling guidelines.
Methods: A total of 883 pre-packaged foods from broad categories were purposively enlisted from selected Nigerian stores and supermarkets.

The preparation of multimodal nanoparticles by capping magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) with functional organic molecules is a major area of research for biomedical applications. Conjugation reactions, such as carbodiimide coupling and the highly selective class of reactions known as "click chemistry", have been instrumental in tailoring the ligand layers of IONPs to produce functional biomedical nanomaterials. However, few studies report the controls performed to determine if the loading of molecules onto IONPs is due to the proposed coupling reaction(s) employed, or some other unknown interaction with the IONP surface.

Over the past decade, the discovery of immunotherapy and targeted therapy has set new standards for the management of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aims to investigate the prevalence of , , , , , , and mutations in patients with NSCLC within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and to assess the current state of molecular testing and targeted treatments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The systematic literature review was performed using PubMed, Google Scholar, and Google searches to identify studies on the prevalence of , , , , , , and mutations in patients with NSCLC in the MENA region.

Background: The benefits of physiology-guided management in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remain inconclusive due to limited evidence. In our FAVOR III China trial, a quantitative flow ratio (QFR)-based physiology-guided strategy versus standard angiography guidance improved the 1-year primary outcome among participants with coronary artery disease (CAD). We aimed to investigate, in a prespecified analysis, the outcomes of QFR-based physiological guidance in the FAVOR III China participants with low-risk ACS.

The Mukaiyama-Michael (M-M) reaction is a powerful approach for carbon-carbon bond formation and can provide access to all-carbon quaternary centers and vicinal stereocenters. The use of chiral catalysts for this transformation has enabled the development of efficient asymmetric methods in which the reaction proceeds with high enantioselectivity in the presence of only a substoichiometric amount of the chiral promoter. Both chiral Lewis acid catalysts and organocatalysts have been employed.
