Very long-lasting spinal anesthesia with dexmedetomidine: A report of two cases.

Spinal anesthesia usually lasts up to two hours, but an infusion of IV dexmedetomidine can prolong it to three to four hours. We report two cases where single spinal anesthesia with IV dexmedetomidine was maintained for more than six hours during tibia fracture surgery. The spinal anesthesia was maintained for 350 and 390 minutes without another medication, and the sensory level confirmed after the surgery was T10 and L1.

A complex case of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome after combined spinal epidural of preeclampsia parturient: A case report.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a disorder characterized by vasogenic edema affecting the posterior brain region. We report a case of PRES in a 36-year-old woman with preeclampsia who underwent an emergency cesarean section with spinal anesthesia. After surgery, she developed right leg weakness, headache, and seizures.

Anesthetic management of an elderly COVID-19 patient with pulmonary thromboembolism for hip surgery - A case report.

Background: COVID-19 and delayed hip surgery are well-known risk factors for thromboembolism in elderly patients.

Case: We report the case of an 88-year-old female patient with COVID-19 and pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) who underwent delayed hip surgery 21 days after the injury. Heparinization and inferior vena cava filters were used to treat and prevent PTE.

Background: Breast cancer patients suffer from lowered quality of life (QoL) after surgery. Breast conservancy surgery (BCS) such as partial mastectomy is being practiced and studied as an alternative to solve this problem. This study confirmed breast tissue reconstruction in a pig model by fabricating a 3-dimensional (3D) printed Polycaprolactone spherical scaffold (PCL ball) to fit the tissue resected after partial mastectomy.

Background: The weakening of the ability of the elderly to perform gait is becoming a major cause of the increase in the frequency of falls.

Objective: In this study, we designed and manufactured a treadmill capable of restraining walking by providing a sudden repulsive force on the left and right legs of a pedestrian when walking for the fall prevention training of the elderly. Through this, it is possible for the elderly person to strengthen the lower extremity muscles to prevent and prepare for falling through the fall prevention training similar to the fall environment that may occur in daily life.

Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a polymer that is used as an artifact in various parts of the human body based on the biocompatibility and mechanical properties of PCL. Here, we hypothesized that a PCL scaffold can be utilized for the restoration of breast tissue after a partial mastectomy.

A humanized monoclonal antibody against HER2 has been using in a clinical setting and has been shown to possess therapeutic properties. A mimetic peptide against HER2 was also reported to bind to the HER2 receptor with some therapeutic potential. Based on a previous report and the sequence of Herceptin, we designed oligonucleotides of anti-HER2 mimetic peptides, named V2 and V3 peptides, in order to develop a peptide- producing vector system for biologic therapy against HER2- overexpressing cancers.
