Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) is a severe metabolic disorder affecting multiple organs because of a distal block in branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) catabolism. Standard of care is limited to protein restriction and supportive care during metabolic decompensation. Severe cases require liver/kidney transplantation, and there is a clear need for better therapy.

Introduction: Adolescent sexual and reproductive health in low- and middle-income countries is critical to address following the COVID-19 pandemic. Growing evidence of its' impact includes increased teenage pregnancies and higher rates of unsafe abortion. Our qualitative study sought to understand perspectives and behaviours around these escalations.

Pre-sensory (ps), peripherally-generated spontaneous activity (SA) is important for establishing basic topography of central components of sensory pathways. However, roles for psSA in sculpting connections at the single neuron level and in driving functional maturation of postsynaptic targets are difficult to isolate and therefore little explored. We capitalized on the temporal onset of cochlea-generated psSA just prior to growth of the calyx of Held (CH), the largest nerve terminal in the mammalian brain, and its well-defined circuit topography to explore the causal roles for psSA in targeted synaptogenesis and postsynaptic functional maturation.

Automation, including Machine Learning (ML), is increasingly being explored to reduce the time and effort involved in evidence syntheses, yet its adoption and reporting practices remain under-examined across disciplines (e.g., health sciences, education, and policy).

Ovarian steroid hormones-estrogen and progesterone-play a central role in regulating epithelial-stromal interactions in the uterus. These interactions are critical for uterine function, including endometrial receptivity, implantation, and decidualization. These interactions involve complex signaling crosstalk between the uterine epithelium and the underlying stroma, with dynamic cell population-specific roles.
