Intestinal inflammation particularly inflammatory bowel disease poses significant clinical challenges due to its chronic nature, limited treatment efficacy and adverse effects of conventional therapies like corticosteroids and biologics. Biomimetic nanocarriers have emerged as a transformative strategy to overcome these limitations by leveraging natural cell membranes for targeted drug delivery. This review critically examines the application of biomimetic nanocarriers as precision therapeutics for intestinal inflammation.

SLC7A11 encodes the glutamate-cystine exchanger xCT, which is a key regulator of intracellular antioxidant capacity and extracellular glutamate levels. We have identified SLC7A11 as a direct target of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR). The GR agonist dexamethasone represses SLC7A11 expression in multiple cell types, from epithelial cells to astrocytes.

Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) continues to have extremely poor patient outcomes, unlike other cancer types which have seen significant improvements in their treatments and survival. A major contributing factor is that PDAC is often detected at an advanced, incurable stage. In the UK, nearly half of patients have stage 4 disease at the time of diagnosis, which has a profound effect on treatment options and, ultimately, survival.
