Prescribed burning (RxB) is a land management tool used widely for reducing wildfire hazard, restoring biodiversity, and managing natural resources. However, RxB can only be carried out safely and effectively under certain seasonal or weather conditions. Under climate change, shifts in the frequency and timing of these weather conditions are expected but analyses of climate change impacts have been restricted to select few regions partly due to a paucity of RxB records at global scale.

Olfactory dysfunction resulting from COVID-19 has imparted a lasting impact on olfaction among the general public, including pregnant women contracting SARS-CoV-2 infection. While olfactory dysfunction can impact physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, there has been little research on olfaction during pregnancy and postpartum, nor the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on olfaction while pregnant. Therefore, the primary study aims are to evaluate olfaction in the postpartum period and determine the impact of antecedent SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Objective:: Because a prior randomized trial suggested that cytomegalovirus (CMV) hyperimmune globulin (HIG) might increase the frequency of adverse pregnancy outcomes, we assessed whether there was such an association in our more recent and larger trial.

Study Design:: This was a secondary analysis of a multi-center randomized placebo-controlled trial of CMV HIG to prevent congenital CMV infection. Individuals were eligible for the trial if they had primary CMV infection and were carrying a singleton fetus without ultrasound abnormalities suspicious for congenital CMV infection.
