In this study, we report the synthesis of single-crystalline h-BN on Ni(111) under ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions using hexamethylborazine (HMB) as a nonclassical precursor. The novel use of HMB facilitates the diffusion of methyl groups into the bulk of Ni(111), playing a critical role in the achievement of high-quality crystalline h-BN layers. The synthesis is performed on a 2 mm-thick Ni(111) single crystal and on a 2-μm-thick Ni(111) thin film on sapphire to evaluate the feasibility of synthesizing h-BN on industrially relevant substrates.

This Special Feature article accompanies the manuscript "Site-Level Variation in Tracheal Intubation in the Pediatric Emergency Department: A Report from the National Emergency Airway Registry for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (NEAR4PEM)" and provides background on the formation, structure, and future directions of the NEAR4PEM collaborative. Established in 2021 as a subgroup of the National Emergency Airway Registry for Children (NEAR4KIDS), NEAR4PEM is a rapidly growing multicenter registry and collaborative focused on advancing the science and practice of airway management in pediatric emergency settings. Participating sites prospectively collect data on pediatric tracheal intubations to characterize practice variability, support quality improvement initiatives, and inform educational efforts in airway management.

However, they are not free of side effects, including nephrotoxicity, which worsens prognosis. Diagnosis of renal injury based on clinical findings has limitations in predicting and identifying the type of damage.

To address this, the study makes a case for the development of the health smart card in the Philippines, an integrative tool unique to each citizen carrying their lifetime medical record.
Methods: The prototype is developed using no-code programming technology and validated through a series of focus group discussions and stakeholder consultations with patients (n=4), healthcare administrators (n=4), and hospital personnel (n=13).

Biological and physical retrospective dosimetry for ionizing radiation exposure is a rapidly growing field, and several methods for performing biological and physical retrospective dosimetry have been developed to provide absorbed dose estimates for individuals after occupational, accidental, intentional, and incidental exposures to ionizing radiation. In large-scale radiological/nuclear incidents, multiple retrospective dosimetry laboratories from several countries may be involved in providing timely dose estimates for effective medical management of several thousand exposed individuals. In such scenarios, the harmonization of methods among participating laboratories is crucial for consistency in data analysis, dose estimation, and medical decision-making.
