Transcutaneous electrocardioversion for treatment of atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure in a Nubian wether.

We describe the novel treatment of idiopathic atrial fibrillation (AF) and congestive heart failure (CHF) in a 10-year-old Nubian wether presented because of suspected hepatopathy. Physical examination findings, including irregularly irregular rhythm, tachycardia, bilateral jugular venous distention and pulsation, and ventral edema, raised concerns for primary cardiac disease. Findings of the echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, and ultrasound examinations supported the diagnosis of AF and CHF.

Spinal cord stimulation restores locomotion in a Parkinson's disease patient and rodents.

Introduction: Dorsal column stimulation (DCS) of the spinal cord is emerging as a promising new technology to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). However, optimal stimulation settings that maximize its therapeutic effect on PD symptoms are yet to be determined. To optimize DCS therapy, it is necessary to understand its impact on pathological brain oscillations and to deliver stimulation triggered by neurophysiological biomarkers of PD.

A mediation analysis of Autistic-like traits and gaming motivations on problem gaming symptoms: Are the effects of social and escape motives the same?

There are higher rates of video game use and potentially gaming disorder among individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, the association between subthreshold autistic-like traits (ALTs) and gaming behaviour remains relatively unexplored. The present study assessed whether gaming motives may mediate the relationship between ALTs and gaming disorder symptoms.

Xe quantification method development and intercomparison exercise.

Monitoring of the atmosphere for fission products (Xe, Xe, Xe, and Xe) is performed by various laboratories to detect nuclear explosions. Quantification of Xe is not routinely performed by laboratories measuring atmospheric radioxenon because it is not a fission product. Xe was recently detected by a ground-based beta-gamma air monitoring system.

Description of clinical findings, diagnosis, and treatment of congestive heart failure in 13 goats.

Objective: Congestive heart failure (CHF) in goats is rarely described. This case series aimed to describe the presenting complaints, clinical findings, treatment, and outcome of goats diagnosed with CHF.

Animals: 13 goats diagnosed with CHF from 2008 to 2022 admitted to a tertiary referral center.
