Virus-like particles (VLPs) are non-infective vaccine candidates that have gained interest given their natural ability to elicit strong immune responses. Particularly, HIV-1 Gag-based VLPs are one of the most described platforms for vaccine development, provided their ability for successful pseudotyping either by genetic engineering or click chemistry. When Gag polyprotein is recombinantly expressed, VLPs are naturally assembled in the vicinity of the cell membrane and then secreted by cell budding, taking part of the host cell membrane.

The degradation of the UV filter benzophenone-3 (BP-3) by low-frequency ultrasound was investigated in different aqueous matrices. BP-3 sonodegradation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics, achieving >97 % removal of 500 μg L of BP-3 within 120 min in ultrapure water (UPW), using a 20 kHz ultrasound horn at 71 W L. Unipolar constructs are encountered in a variety of non-cognitive measurement scenarios that include clinical and forensic assessments, symptoms checklists, addictive behaviors, and irrational beliefs among others. Furthermore, Item Response Theory (IRT) models intended for fitting and scoring measures of unipolar constructs, particularly Log-Logistic models, are fully developed at present, but they are limited to unidimensional structures. This paper proposes a novel multidimensional log-logistic IRT model intended for double-bounded continuous response items that measure unipolar constructs.

In the field of autonomous driving, cooperative perception through vehicle-to-vehicle communication significantly enhances environmental understanding by leveraging multi-sensor data, including LiDAR, cameras, and radar. However, traditional early or late fusion methods face challenges such as high bandwidth and computational resources, which make it difficult to balance data transmission efficiency with the accuracy of perception of the surrounding environment, especially for the detection of smaller objects such as pedestrians. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel cooperative perception framework based on two-stage intermediate-level sensor feature fusion specifically designed for complex traffic scenarios where pedestrians and vehicles coexist.

Background: West Nile virus (WNV) is a neurotropic mosquito-borne flavivirus responsible for outbreaks of encephalitis and meningitis worldwide. About 20% of infected patients exhibit abnormal liver function tests, although the participation of this organ in the pathophysiology of the disease remains unclear. To fill this gap, this study explores changes in liver metabolism during WNV infection.
