Catalytic asymmetric total synthesis of the naturally occurring alkaloids, (-)-elwesine (), (-)-dihydrooxocrinine (), and (-)--crinine () bearing the characteristic 5,10-ethanophenanthridine framework has been reported. The synthesis features a key CBS reduction to generate an enantioenriched allylic alcohol (97% ee), followed by an Johnson-Claisen [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement to construct a sterically demanding all-carbon quaternary center at the pseudobenzylic position. Subsequent allylic oxidation furnishes the corresponding enone intermediate .

Structural variants (SVs) detected using long-read whole genome sequencing (lrWGS) are a relatively new class of variants implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders. Short read sequencing (SRS) and chromosomal microarray (CMA) are unable to resolve these SVs due to their inherent technological limitations.

This study explores the best control strategy of a Brownian information engine (BIE), confined in a potential energy surface (PES) of arbitrary shape and experiencing a measurement-outcome-based feedback cycle. The feedback site corresponds to an instantaneous shift in the potential center by an additional feedback distance over the measurement outcome.

We report the first example of transmembrane anion transport mediated by a hydrogen-bonding homo[2]catenane. The catenane outperforms its non-interlocked analogues in chloride transport, highlighting the advantages of interlocked architectures in ionophore design. The synthesis of this electroneutral [2]catenane was enabled by doubly charged sulfate (SO), acting as a powerful anionic template.

Background: Prognostic tools for febrile illnesses are urgently required in resource-constrained community contexts. Circulating immune and endothelial activation markers stratify risk in common childhood infections. We aimed to assess their use in children with febrile illness presenting from rural communities across Asia.
