Introduction: Kratom use is increasing in the US, yet data characterizing use patterns, risks, and benefits is limited. Additionally, there are few data on the acute subjective effects of kratom in humans, and no studies to-date have examined kratom use within US public consumption settings, which have become increasingly popular in recent years.

Methods: Using field methods, we administered surveys to 102 ethnobotanical tea bar patrons in northern Colorado.

Background/objectives: International students pursuing higher education in the United States face unique challenges that increase their risk of food insecurity, including limited financial resources, employment restrictions, and cultural barriers. While food insecurity among domestic students has been widely studied, limited research focuses on the lived experiences of international graduate students. This study explores the challenges, perceptions, and coping strategies related to food insecurity among international graduate students at a large public university in North Texas.

It was recently shown that inhibition of polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) induces -dependent synthetic lethality in cancers with chromosome 17q-encoded copy number gain due to cooperative regulation of centriole duplication and mitotic spindle nucleation. We show here that chromosome 17q/TRIM37 gain is a pathognomonic feature of high-risk neuroblastoma and renders patient-derived cell lines hypersensitive to the novel PLK4 inhibitor RP-1664. We demonstrate that centriole amplification at low doses of RP-1664 contributes to this sensitivity in a - and -independent fashion.

Background: Atypical depression (AD) is one of the commonly experienced depressive subtypes and is predicted to become more prevalent despite the term 'atypical', implying that the condition is rare.

Objective: This scoping review synthesises the evidence on the manifestation and measurement of AD.

Design: Quantitative studies published in English that mentioned atypical depression (and related terms) in adults were identified by searching the online databases CINAHL, MEDLINE Complete, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science.

Gossypiboma, a retained surgical sponge causing a foreign-body reaction, is a rare but serious postoperative complication. Despite modern safety protocols, such events continue to occur, often underreported due to medicolegal concerns. We report the unusual case of a 23-year-old woman presenting with a palpable upper abdominal mass and systemic symptoms five years after an open cholecystectomy.
