Ring chromosomes (RCs) can be rare or common depending on the chromosome involved. With interest in the historical RCs identified by our laboratory, we curated instances to provide further information to this research field. : We carried out a retrospective, single-center study of constitutional RCs identified starting in the late 1980s.

Early prediction of mortality in acute cholangitis: Elaboration of a new simple prognostic score.

Background: Acute cholangitis is an infection due to the bile duct obstruction. Despite progress in treatment, acute cholangitis remains potentially fatal. Early diagnosis and treatment improve the patient outcomes.

Etiological treatment of gallstone acute pancreatitis.

Gallstone pancreatitis is the leading cause of acute pancreatitis, accounting for more than 40% of cases. Etiological treatment is a critical issue in acute biliary pancreatitis as it helps reduce the risk of recurrence. Patients who have experienced a complicated form of biliary disease are at high risk for recurrent episodes, and the severity of these new episodes can be unpredictable.

Prognostic value of the measurement at admission of the inferior vena cava in acute pancreatitis.

Background: Identifying new early predictive markers for the development of severe forms in acute pancreatitis remains a major challenge. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of inferior vena cava (IVC) measurement to predict severe acute pancreatitis.

Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective study including patients consecutively hospitalized for acute pancreatitis between 2014 and 2019 who had an abdominal scan within 24 h after admission, before any significant fluid resuscitation.
