Objective: This post hoc study of the Progesterone for Traumatic Brain Injury, Experimental Clinical Treatment (ProTECT) III trial investigates whether improving traumatic brain injury (TBI) classification, using serum biomarkers (glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP] and ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal esterase L1 [UCH-L1]) and algorithmically assessed total lesion volume, could identify a subset of responders to progesterone treatment, beyond broad measures like the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended (GOS-E), which may fail to capture subtle changes in TBI recovery.

Design: Brain lesion volumes on CT scans were quantified using Brain Lesion Analysis and Segmentation Tool for CT. Patients were classified into true-positive and true-negative groups based on an optimization scheme to determine a threshold that maximizes agreement between radiological assessment and objectively measured lesion volume.

HPV vaccination in adults provides opportunities for individuals who were previously ineligible, or who missed vaccination as adolescents, thereby reducing HPV-related disease burden. This targeted literature review summarizes the HPV vaccination recommendations and guidelines by National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups and professional societies, and public funded programs for adults. Of the 152 jurisdictions examined, 62 offered HPV vaccination recommendations for general adults.

In 2022, the Royal Liverpool University Hospital moved premises. As part of the move, the patients from its existing Critical Care Unit (consisting of an independent Intensive Care Unit, a High Dependency Unit and a Post-Operative Critical Care Unit), had to be transferred from the old hospital to an entirely new one. Whilst relocation of an Intensive Care Unit, its critically ill patients, staff and equipment has undoubtedly happened elsewhere in the past, very little has been written about such an undertaking.

Vaginal fibrosis induced by cancer therapy continues to take a physical and psychoemotional burden. To advance the efforts to generate a reproducible and cost-effective animal model, we tested the effect of repeated bleomycin instillations with mucosal layer disruption on induction of vaginal fibrosis. Tissue samples collected at various time points were analyzed for fibrosis-related gene expression changes and collagen content.
